First open and first SE section was a yearling on 1287ypm for P Basham of Southampton. Paul has named his double national winner Marathon Margi after his partner's late mother. Recently Paul has run two marathons to raise money for research into pancreatic cancer which she died of. The sire is a son of Farmer George x Wollongong whilst the dam is DO Shiraz 3rd international Bordeaux x Farm Ivy 1st international hens St Vincent. Both sire and dam were bred by Geoff and Catherine Cooper.
Ben Smith and Father of Southampton timed a two year old on 1216ypm to take second open and second SE section. The partners old hen was bred from pigeons gifted them by Keith Davidson of Holbury when he let the sport.
K and J Zerafa of Portsmouth timed two pigeons to take third and sixth open, third and fifth SE section. Their first was a yearling on 1202ypm, the second a two year old on 1179.8ypm. First on the clock was a direct daughter of Enigma, the dam to 1st open Fougeres and Bordeaux. Second was the same hen they timed from Ilkeston two weeks previously, the sire of which is Yvette's Decision. The dam is Eastern Angel.
Mr and Mrs Ran and Son of Newport on the Isle of Wight were fourth open, fourth SE section with a yearling on 1193ypm. Rod and Linda timed a daughter of their Falaise national winner. It was a widowhood hen earlier in the season then re-paired and trained up with the youngsters.
J Derbyshire of Whitchurch was fifth open and first NE section with a yearling on 1179.9ypm. Jim's hen contains Brockamp bloodlines from Carden Garrod of Whitchurch and originating from Mrs T Marshall and Sons' Machine Family.
Steve Slade of Calne timed a two year old on 1175ypm to take seventh open and first NW section. Steve timed the same hen that was his second back from Ilkeston. It is bred from a cock gifted to him by Joe Raeburn of Melksham, whilst the dam is out of Julie, his champion racer that is now at stock. Julie has bred several section winners for Steve and Tomasz of Melksham. .
Darren Ede and Family of Southampton were eighth open and sixth SE section with a yearling on 1156ypm.
Asa, G and A Williams of Southampton were ninth open and seventh SE section with a four year old on 1136ypm.
Completing the top ten and in eighth SE section are Mr and Mrs Stickland of Southampton with a yearling on 1092ypm.
Around the sections
L Hopkins of Blandford Forum was first SW section with a yearling on 901ypm. Lee's section winner contains Frans Zwols and Soontjen bloodlines and was sent sitting seven days. He had four out of five sent back on the day.
S Travers of Poole was second SW section with a yearling on 965ypm. Steve's pigeon was bred from his Heinz 57 family of birds that have flown well for him all year.
The runner-up in NW section was E Davis of Marlborough who timed two pigeons to take second and third section. First was a two year old Soontjen on 825ypm, followed by a four year old Vandenabeele on 817ypm.
