First open and first south-east section was a three year old on 1131ypm for Wearn Brothers and Neilson of Ramsdean. The winner was Ramsdean Olivia, containing New Laureaat bloodlines of J and P Parker on the sire's side and crossed with Starlight from Mark Gilbert. Earlier in the season it was raced on the celibate system and then paired up just prior to basketing.
David and John Staddon of Shepton Mallett were second open and first south-west section with a two year old on 911ypm. The partners clocked Gemstone, bred from their star breeder Gem, a son of Bill and Beryl Lewis' Freelands Gem. The Staddons timed a second pigeon, a yearling on 779.7ypm to also take sixth open and fourth south-west section. The partners had seven pigeons in the top twenty of the section.
Andy Parsons of Salisbury timed a three year old on 866ypm to take third open and second south-west section. Andy's second pigeon, a two year old on 786ypm was fifth open and third south-west section. Both were similarly bred with the first being a direct daughter of Dancer when paired to his own grand-daughter. The sire of the second was a half brother to Dancer and Proud Mary. Both were sent sitting four day eggs. Andy had seven pigeons in the top twenty of the south-west section.
A E Shepherd of Woodmancote was fourth open and second south-east section with a three year old on 815ypm. Bert timed a pigeon bred from his Jan Aarden x Ko Nipius family that he has had since the late seventies. It has now been named Rainbow Lad and was flown on the widowhood system.
Seventh open and first north-west section was a four year old on 779.5ypm for T F Emery of Radstock. Tony timed Heatwave a dark hen containing Keith Nethercott x Cannon x Fear Brothers bloodlines. The sire of Heatwave was 17th open Tarbes, whilst the dam was 1st combine from Marmande.
J Derbyshire of Whitchurch was eighth open and first north-east section with a two year old on 778.8ypm. Jim's section winner contains Brockamp bloodlines from J and P Parker of Beenham's Mrs T Marshall and Son Machine family. It was raced on the roundabout system.
Mr and Mrs Clive Merrills of Swindon were ninth open and second north-east section with a four year old on 778.3ypm. Clive timed a consistent hen raced on the celibate system.
Completing the top ten and in third south-east section are Mr and Mrs Bunney of Paulsgrove with a two year old on 775ypm. Mick timed a blue cock bred from birds given to him by John Wills and which go back to the De Klak bloodlines that John acquired from Brian Leadbetter of Birmingham. It was raced on the widowhood system.
Around the sections
Luff and Walker Brothers from Dursley were second north-west section with a two year old on 757ypm. The partners timed Blue Forty Four, a hen usually raced on the widowhood system. However, prior to the race she was showing to another hen and laid an egg which was then placed in her nestbowl with her cock. The sire is bred from their Tarbes section winner Hardy when paired to Golden Queen of Kipp and Son.
