With 7.893 points against 7.814 for the runner-up, the hegemony in Hardinxveld-Giessendam achieved a fantastic climax; Nico will soon be crowned best middle distance loft of the Netherlands. A title which Nico achieved with four fabulous results … with a different wind each time!! The title wasn’t just carried to him on the wind then. And to illustrate the quality of his racing team; no less than 8 different pigeons contributed to the championship!!

A quick look through the pedigrees of the pigeons which contributed to the new climax in the fabulous career of Nico, show the wondrous Van Noordenne giants as ‘Torero’ (1. Nat. Ace pigeon middle distance 2004), ‘Kasai’ (1. Ace pigeon middle distance province 5 with 4x 1. prize), ‘Kallisto’ (2x 1. Ace pigeon & 2x 1. big race), ‘Bergkamp’ (6x 1. prize) … all wondrous clappers, which heralded a glorious breeding period … but what is also noticeable is the ‘fresh blood’ that Nico introduced. So as descendants of Kees Bosua’s wonder couple ‘Porky’ x ‘Miss Marbella’ and lines ‘Muggie’ & ‘Kerkduifje’ … the famous ‘Kleine Dirk’ lines via Marcel Sangers … the classy genes of ‘Olympic Unbelievable’ and ‘Magnum’ x ‘Evolution’ from G. & S. Verkerk … and the wondrous ‘Farah Diba’ origin from Marijke Vink. “In 2010 I raced with youngsters for the first time out the Claessens pigeons – which I had coupled with my best breeders – although there were only a limited number. Despite the fact that my preference isn’t for the game with the youngsters and it isn’t usually any form of measure, I noticed quite quickly that the Claessens cock ‘Chequer 43’ coupled with ‘Latina’, classy daughter of ‘Torero’, directly bred two 1. prize winners. I have very high expectations of these pigeons.” Nico’s breeding loft houses four direct Claessens pigeons, as guarantee for extra gravy in the stock forming. These four consist of:

All in all; a wonderful season for the miracle man from Hardinxveld-Giessendam. Nico worked very hard on forming a wonder stock of pigeons and his labour to bring the pigeons to unknown heights during the season is even harder!! With all this middle distance violence we almost forgot that Nico also performed strongly in the sprint and extreme middle distance, with de fastest provincial Moeskroen against 18.176 pigeons and 1. & 2. prov. Creil against 12.243 pigeons (‘No Limit’ & ‘Torres’) as fabulous highlight … Let us leave you with a few appealing performances in these disciplines :
