Philippe Dobbelaere (Olsene, BE) also wins 2nd and 6th Nat. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Young birds KBDB 2023

This East Flemish middle and long distance legend had a fantastic season, during which two new National KBDB Ace Pigeons were the cherry on the cake.

A loft full of superior 1st Prize winners

At the start of the season, on the middle distance races in May, Philippe Dobbelaere his colony already showed its strength. During the month of May they were near unbeatable, their winning mood was unstoppable. At the end of May, a staggering 18x 1st Prizes had been won. These victories included races of which the first 4 or even the first 6 prizes were won. There was no limit to the dominance of the Dobbelaere pigeons. This went on in the weeks and months which followed. During first weekend of June, Dobbelaere once again won the first 5 prizes. The victories were continuously reeled in throughout the season.

Those who thought Philippe's pigeons couldn't do any better, would be disappointed. It got better. Especially when the young birds races came along, and these talented youngsters had to match what their older loft mates had achieved that same season. The absolute sensation came on Orleans Saran for young birds, by winning the 8 first prizes on the interprovincial level against 9,231 young birds. Please enjoy this phenomenal result:

Orléans/Saran 351 km Interprovinciaal 9,231 Young birds:
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-18-32-36-55-61-113-115-137-149-169-259-318-465-479-588-606-947-1070-1076-1185-1280-1532-1564-2512-2938 (33/45)

They left behind the whole province. What a feat. Possibly this is a result which had never been matched. Being outclassed like this certainly pained the competition in West Flanders.

Having barely recovered form this display of power, Philippe struck again just a few weeks later. This time, he won the two first prizes on the interprovincial level from Chateaudun.

Chateaudun 352 km Interprovinciaal 2,889 Young birds:
1-2-133-178-228-264-265-280-425-552-553-679-680-859-928 (15/21)

In the meantime, he also won 1st Nat. Zone Bourges against 980 Yearlings on the National Bourges of 30th July.

In the end, the victory tally landed on 37x 1st Prizes (races with 2-3-4-6 or even 8 first prizes aren't included). Phenomenal. Illustrative of the superior dominance shown by the pigeons of Philippe Dobbelaere during the 2023 racing season.

Leading role for descendants of Super Jan

With Super Jan BE21-4078387 – 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Allround Young birds KBDB 2021 and 5th Nat. Ace Pigeon Heavy Middle Distance Young birds KBDB 2021 - Philippe Dobbelaere has also found a new super breeder. This crack played an important role in the successes achieved in 2023. Philippe resisted the demand and the astronomical sums of money offered for his National Ace Pigeon. Keeping the future in mind, as such National Ace Pigeons from the past have proven to carry the best genes, crucial in further developing the stock. You won't find a better pigeon than a 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon anywhere. Philippe is not a man of many words, he is rather a quiet thinker. Bearing in mind examples such as the 'Kannibaal' and 'New Freddy', he decided to give Super Jan a special place on his lofts and so endless breeding potential was kept on European soil.

That his decision and feeling was the right choice became clear from the first breeding season with Super Jan. All the pigeons that were amongst the 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th-6th-7th-8th Interprov. Orleans have the blood of Super Jan running through their veins. The winners of 1st-2nd Interprov. Chateaudun are also both grandchildren of Super Jan. The dominance of the children and grandchildren of Super Jan during races is incredible. That this is the result after barely two years of breeding, makes it even more impressive. If Super Jan continues to produce super pigeons and winners with this regularity and at this pace, this pigeon could become an even greater sensation in the near future. A true breeding ground for talent. Time will tell, although the performances and breeding results of his (grand)children after barely 2 years indicate the enormous potential that Philippe Dobbelaere houses on his lofts.

The absolute highlight – the cherry on the cake – was winning the titles of 2nd and 6th Nat. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB 2023 with two grandchildren of Super Jan, in fact they are full brothers of each other. National Ace Pigeons KBDB are the 'best' pigeons in Belgium in their discipline across an entire racing season. In recent seasons, Philippe Dobbelaere has won the following provincial and national ace pigeons, in addition to Olympiad pigeons:

1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Allround Young birds KBDB 2021 (Super Jan)

A more than impressive list many could only dream of. These ace pigeons underline the class of this colony and the breeding potential which Philippe Dobbelaere can rely on. Such an extensive list of ace pigeons belongs to a true national star!

Cherry on the cake: 2nd & 6th Nat. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB 2023

Numbers often say more than words. Therefore, we will introduce three cracks from the 2023 racing season. All are direct grandchildren of Super Jan.

This Black Tornado is living proof that winners are bred from winners, and ace pigeons descend from ace pigeons. He was bred from Son Super Jan BE21-4078447 (Super Jan: 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Allround Young birds KBDB 2021 and 5th Nat. Ace Pigeon Heavy Middle Distance Young birds KBDB 2021) paired to Daughter  Gilliam BE20-4128528 (from Gilliam: 2nd Nat. She too is a grandchild of Super Jan, as daughter of King Jan BE22-4151387, from co-breeding with PEC (son of Super Jan x Queen Remco: 1st Best YL Long Distance 2021 across 3 races, which would be equal to 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance YL following the current criteria) x Jane BE19-4099242 (2x 1st Sermaises, 6th Nat. Chateauroux and half-sister of 1st Nat. Jarnac).

The Rocco dynasty: breeding gold

Philippe Dobbelaere has found a new golden breeder, Super Jan. The dominance displayed by the Super Jan bloodlines - in barely 2 years time - is unmatched. Knowing that Super Jan is a grandson of Robby (full brother Rocco), adds to his status as super breeder. In fact this bloodline is therefore a succession of the Rocco dynasty; Pure breeding gold for short to long distance racing (200-800km)!

This is without doubt one of the best bloodlines of this moment. A golden bloodline which ensures success and has led Philippe Dobbelaere to the absolute top of (inter)national pigeon sport. World-class!

Video Robby: 7th Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB and grandfather Super Jan

Robby: he himself became 7th Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB and descends from the Rocco dynasty (full brother Rocco). He is father, grandfather (a/o of Super Jan) and (great)grandfather of an incredible amount of 1st Prize winners and Ace Pigeons up to the national level. A real dominant super breeder and mighty stock pigeon!
