Sven Fierens (St.-Katelijne-Waver, BE): “Surging performances, thanks to Rudy Van Reeth and… corona"

The pigeon story of 48-year-old Sven Fierens from Sint-Katelijne-Waver (province of Antwerp) started almost half a century ago, first with his grandfather and then with his father. In 1998 Sven started competing on his own. Saying that immediate success was achieved is not telling the truth. Let's stick to the claims...
In 2014 he met Rudy Van Reeth from Herenthout, the man who laid the cornerstones of his famous Pitbull dynasty at that time. Sven remembers with justifiable pride: With 'Pitbull' (BE07-6201777) Rudy had a real super breeder at his loft. His descendants provided references at home and with other fanciers including yourself. And this line can also be crossed easily. "Pitbull" runs like a thread through my colony, supplemented with the best lines of Dirk Van den Bulck, Stefaan Lambrechts and Leo Heremans.”

Since meeting with Rudy Van Reeth, the performances at the Fierens loft got better, to the extent that 2020 was his very best year ever. Sven: “Yes, 2020 was an exceptionally good pigeon season for me.I rented bouncy houses for 25 years, but because of corona, the parties disappeared and there were no bouncy houses needed anywhere.That gave me a lot more time for the pigeons. Performance went up sharply. Now I only sell soccer goals and trampolines. I started to race the middle distance and I really liked it. On my first middle distance race from Pont Sainte Maxence I immediately won 1st prize of 3105 pigeons in Union Antwerp. Rudy Van Reeth has become a good friend and every year some of his toppers move here.”

'Pitbull'

Earlier in this report, Sven already justly praised Rudy Van Reeth's "Pitbull". He adds a little more: “I have three more direct children of "Pitbull", whom I would like to put in the spotlight, namely Late Pitbull BE12-6298689, Godfather BE14-6060069 and Miss Pitbull BE15-6168841.

‘Winai’  ( BE19-6093332)  was this year 1. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance by De Witte Duivin Hombeek.

Breeding Cocks

‘Lewis’ (BE16-6200061) after his great racing career was allowed to go to the breeding loft where he produces excellent offspring.

‘Fluwelen’ (BE18-6138134)is a checkered white flight, a signature of Rudy Van Reeth. After all, "Velvet" is a grandson of "Pitbull".

Breeding hens

‘Stefanie’ (BE15-6198227) from a cock of Karel Laenen and a hen of Stefaan Lambrechts has already produced great offspring.

‘Sneeuwitje’ (BE16-6269600) is a granddaughter of ‘Jackpot’, and a daughter of a cock from Gert Heylen and a hen from Rudy Van Reeth. Top breeder.

Future

Sven wants to continue on the same path. “Hopefully 2021 will be even better. And that it will be a normal pigeon season for me and for all fanciers, from April to September,” that's how he describes his hopes for 2021.
