The team had already had a stellar result from Vierzon two weeks back, claiming a 1-2-3-4-5 olds and a 1-2-3 yearlings with 14 pigeons in the the top 15 yearlings, as well as a 1st Provincial Vierzon with Spirit in both the old birds' and yearlings' race. And the pigeon family from Kruisem was equally outstanding in the first national long distance classic of the 2020 season on 4th of July. The Vandenheede birds claimed several top results in a row, including a 1st and 2nd provincial and a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the zone. We take a look at the team's overall results:
Limoges Nat Zone A2 – 5,024 olds:
with 17 pigeons per 10 and a total of 26/47 (per 4)
Limoges Provincial 4,335 olds:
plus 17 pigeons per 10 and 35 prizes with 47 pigeons (per 3)
Limoges National 15,981 olds:
or 10 pigeons in the national top 100 and a total of 30 pigeons with 47 birds (per 4)
These are impressive numbers indeed, especially since the weather conditions and the wind did not really play in their favour.
Ladies at the top
The top three at zonal level was won with three racing hens. It appears that their long distance team is following the same trend as the middle distance team: the hens are outperforming the cocks. Although we would not draw too many conclusions yet, since your pigeons' fitness can change a lot from one day to the next.

Victory bouquet from Chateauroux
Also taking place on Saturday 4th of July was the national race from Chateauroux, where the team was victorious as well, both in the old birds' and yearlings' race at club level. And they were very close to taking the win in the yearlings' race at zonal level too. We take a look at the numbers:
Chateauroux club 163 olds: 1-8-10-28-54 (5/7)
Nat Zone A2 – 5,679 olds: 12-204-271-686 (4/7)
Chateauroux club 386 yearlings:
with 29 pigeons per 10 and a total of 69 prizes with 122 pigeons
Chateauroux Nat Zone A2 – 9,511 yearlings:
with 29 pigeons per 10 and a total of 55 prizes with 122 pigeons per 4
These are phenomenal results based around an extensive collection of race winners and ace pigeons, both in the racing and breeding lofts. It underlines the status of Freddy and Jacques Vandenheede as national champions. They are for sure the men to beat in the next couple of weeks, with several important national races coming up. They are among the main favourites both at provincial, zonal and national level, which means all eyes will be on the pigeon loft from Kruisem.
