Wonderman Arjan Beens - Genemuiden (NL) intoxicated by super season 2010

National top 10 prizes in 5 of the 9 multiple day races from 2010 … an average that is only reserved for giants; but seems like a piece of cake for Arjan Beens.

There is no measure to his game in the National classics … a well thought through breeding and racing policy with descendants of the Dutch long distance elite stand as basis of what is now many years of success … the very tough 2010 season can however be labelled as very exceptional.

‘A successful experiment’ says the Northern Union Chairman Hans Geerink over the race from Orange, morning liberation for the northern half of the Netherlands. ‘No pigeons home on the day of liberation and the following day the well-known long distance men whose pigeons arrived home well.’ With this the NU-president is without doubt referring to Arjan Beens, who closed a super season in great style. He basketted 35 men and women perserverers and early Saturday morning they returned home as if on a string:
7h18 – 7h29  - 8h30  - 8h30 – 8h32 – 8h36 – 8h49 – 9h09 – 9h15 – 9h18 – 9h19 – 9h37 – 9h37 – 9h42 - etc.
Good enough for a total of 22 prizes (63% prize) and the following classifications:
NU Zone 3         846 pigeons: 2., 3., 8., 9., 11., 12., 17., 34., 40., 42., 44., 58., 61., 64. (22 Prizes)
NU Total      4.023 pigeons: 6., 8., 24., 25., 28., 29., 49., 85., 98., 103., 105., 156., 159. (22 Prizes)

Super season
With this Arjan Beens crowned a season of exceptional class. And that’s saying something when you can build on such an excelling honours list so as Arjan has built up over the last few years. Three Nat/NPO victories and top 10 nineteen times (so teletext) in his beloved multiple day races. A more than excellent basis underpins these performances …Descendants were obtained out the very best of great champions, think of  Jelle Jellema, Gebr. Limburg, First Prize Pigeons, Bruggeman, Sam de Jong, Verweij-Castricum/Peter de Haan, Gebr. Hagens, Jan Polder … they were coupled randomly; however Arjan always took one important factor into consideration … He quite deliberately kept the lines which performed magnificently up to a maximum of 1.000 km together … those must be tough and fast … and want to overnight. “In addition I work on a line which is suitable for St. Vincent (1.136 km) and Barcelona (1.286 km) …which should mainly be tough and prepared to fly for a long time.” His search for this second category of pigeons – seeing the results in 2010 in these classics – is definitely starting to take shape:

St.Vincent
District 2         100 pigeons: 1., 3., 4., 5., 8., 16., 21., 23. (8/10)
Region 1          559 pigeons: 1., 20., 24., 25., 48., 73., 92., 97., 128. (9 prizes)
GOU 8          2.215 pigeons: 1., 65., 83., 87., 169., 257., 379., 399. (9 prizes)
Nat. S3        5.698 pigeons: 5., 171., 215., 228., 460. (8 prizes)
NU Zone 3      1.209 pigeons: 2., 35., 44., 47., 98., 154., 223., 239. (8 prizes)
NU Total:     7.278 pigeons: 7., 210., 266., 279., 558., 879., 1293. (8 prizes)

ZLU National      7.016 pigeons: 702., 722., 825., 1056., 1517. (5 prizes)

In the -1.000 km races Arjan was in his old fine form … he can produce a marvellous list; there are not many in the country who can match up to Arjan in 2010:

Brive

Nat. S3    11.054 pigeons: 7., 20., 48., 59., 61., 83., 138., 160., 185. (26 prizes)

Good enough for a superb prize percentage of 63% (178 entered, 112 prizes) in afternoon liberations and 60% (43 entered, 26 prizes) in morning liberations … With this Arjan was, amongst other things, 1. champion marathon in the Northern Union 2010 and 4. not nominated overnight long distance champion in province 8 in 2010.

2010 top hen ‘De 874
Winning a top prize in the overnight races – and by this we mean National top 10 - is only feasible for very good pigeons in optimal condition … But managing this twice in one year; that is only earned with the predicate of super crack! There is such a classy pigeon residing in Arjan’s lofts; the NL08-2075874 which presented herself early twice:
3. NPO Brive 2010 against 5.097 pigeons
7. Nat. Cahors 2010 against 11.110 pigeons
She burns class, something which is clearly reflected in her lineage.
Father is ‘De Bergerac’, with a National honours list of 6. Nat. Bergerac 2007 against 15.194 pigeons, 114. Nat. Bergerac 2006 against 17.483 pigeons and 221. NPO Perigueux 2006 against 6.303 pigeons … this100% Limburg cock comes out a son of ‘Super Van Geel’ x ‘Daughter Limbo Boy’. Mother of ‘De 874’ is the wonder fairy ‘Rika’, 1. NPO Periguex winner 2007 against 7.581 pigeons, 67. Nat. Limoges 2008 against 13.239 pigeons, 80. NPO Brive 2007 against 6.857 pigeons and 95. NPO Perigueux 2006 against 6.303 pigeons. With this she was 7. Nat. Ace pigeon overnight races WHZB 2007!! Her roots lie by Jelle Jellema; she is a grandchild of his basis pigeons ‘De Ploert’, ‘De Pot’, ‘De Professor’ and ‘Lois’. ‘Rika’ is also mother of the NL08-2075752, from Orange she achieved the 6. prize in the  Northern Union against 4.022 pigeons.

De 028’ - wonder racer!
After showing signs of great class in 2008 and 2009, the NL07-1235028 displayed what Arjan expected of her in ‘THE CLASSIC’ St. Vincent; capable of racing in the National top 10. The 1. prize regional against 2.215 pigeons and 5. National against 5.698 pigeons were for her … the honours list became all the more impressive:

5. Nat. St. Vincent 2010 against 5.698 pigeons  (1. regional 2.215 p.)
31.  Nat. Bordeaux 2009    against 8.058 pigeons  (5. regional 886 p.)
32.  Nat. Bergerac 2008    against 14.372 pigeons (2. regional 2.466 p.)
183. Nat. Limoges 2009     against 13.195 pigeons
233. NU   Bordeaux 2010    against 1.424 pigeons
489. NPO  Perigueux 2008   against 5.801 pigeons

Father is ‘Mooie Wensveen’, who has already bred an entire regiment of National toppers … other children of his are:
- 06-559; 3. NPO Perigueux 2007 against 7.581 pigeons
- 08-791; 9. NU Brive 2010 against 18.246 pigeons and 51. NPO Perigueux 2009 against 6.330 pigeons
- 08-792; 8. NU Orange 2010 against 4.022 pigeons
Mother is ‘De Strakke 396’, half-sister of the 16. Nat. Bordeaux … she comes from a Brüggeman Brothers cock x a granddaughter of the superb 404 from Sam de Jong.

Eggs
Arjan starts the season with about 170 racing pigeons, wherefrom 110 yearlings. Everything is raced with a nest, they are basketted for important races with 12 day old eggs. They are basketted every week, they are even basketted up to the Saturday for the basketting of a long distance race on Tuesday … If there is only basketting on Thursday then the pigeons go together with top talent Mark van den Berg to Breda (150 km). ‘Rest Rusts’ is the motto thereby! Where the pigeons can take it easy at the beginning of the season where the training on house is concerned (once a day for an hour), starting three weeks before the first important race they have to train hard, with a training session in the morning from 5h30 to 6h45 and in the evening from 18h30 to 19h45. Plenty to eat is the device for giving the pigeons enough energy; Beijers Koopman All-in One mixture and the last 4 days extra rich with peanuts, tovo and Super Energy from Matador. Notable; after the season Arjan always breeds another 30 October youngsters from his best racers. In April they are trained and then they have to work the entire programme, including an overnight race of 950 km. 65% of this group remains and includes some supers every year; think of ‘De 874’, best racing pigeon of 2010 with Teletext twice.

Arjan Beens, long distance matador by far with super pigeons and moreover; with thought behind his breeding and racing methods. Making his unequalled inimitable performance of a structural nature. Top class, without doubt … wherefrom we can expect more such startling performances in the future.

Klasse melker met klasse duiven !!!!

STERK STERK STERK!

Proficiat Arjan
