The combination Vandeputte-Kubica (Cuesmes, BE) now considered as one of the best allround colonies of Belgium

It was the sensation from 2018. They already raised the bar very high during the previous racing seasons. However, 2018 will stay forever as their very best season with no less than 4 pigeons classified in the National ace pigeon rankings as well as a pigeon qualified for the Olympiads in Poland.

They just put their hands on everything that could be won in 2018.

Grégory Kubica & Patrick Vandeputte.

A very complementary combination

The two men decided to join their forces together in 2015. Gregory, a well known fancier in his area, already attempted to the arrivals of the pigeons from his friend Patrick. A few years before, he had to stop the very good combination he used to form with his grandfather under the namer Kubica-Nanni. However, the pigeon bug was still deep in his mind and this is how he kept close contact with one of the best pigeon fancier of his own area, being Patrick Vandeputte. Both men were quickly right on the same track and they decided it would be a good thing to race together. Gregory takes care of all the paperwork (a very demanding task seeing the performances they are booking) and Patrick is the general manager of the colony, the pigeon lofts being built at his home.

An allround colony

This is the particularity of this team. They are able to book a victory from 100 until 900 kilometers. Each pigeon is judged and raced on his favourite distance. A pigeon that wins at 200 km will never be basketted for a further race, same thing for the middle and long distance racers. This strategy lead them to winning a fantastic title as their hen christened ‘Françoise’ won the 1st National Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB in 2018. The two partners are particularly proud of this title.

We have to insist on the allround skills of this colony because we are often hearing that, to be able to shine in the pigeon scene, we have to focus on one single discipline. The astonishing success of this combination proves that it's not always right. But you need to know your birds very well and adjust when it's necessary. Both friends are very passionated, they can talk about pigeons 24 hours a day, 365 days a year… That’s why their current success is not surprising us.

To be able to book such kind of performances, you have to work with top breeding lines and pigeons that suit your goals. In their breeding lofts, you can find pigeons from Vandenabeele Gaby, Devos Etienne, Bolle Georges and more recently from Gino Clicque. As you will probably have noticed, all these names have shined on the national pigeon happenings.
