20/12/2012 - Belgium has had quite a few very successful pigeon fanciers before the war of ’40-’45, especially in the period between 1925 and 1939. Before that period we also had the famous Karel Wegge, who died in 1897.
15/12/2012 - Those who had already seen some of the announcements of their public auctions in Brussels were probably surprised about certain passages. Such as the blue coloured cock of ’46 (four years old), has not yet won a single prize but it will be ready for the long distance races by next season etc.
08/12/2012 - What if you were to ask a Belgian fancier more or less familiar with the big champions at national level (in the long distance competition), who he thinks is the most successful and most regular pigeon fancier in the years after the war? In other words: who are the big champions in Belgium and consequently the world champions of this time?
27/10/2012 - In 1904 Theo Vandevelde exchanged a few pigeons with his fellow teacher Louis Linghier from Oudenburg. He received several pigeons of two separate couples, including the famous ‘Snak’, which was paired to a hen of Constant Deherdt, a fancier from Berchem.
19/10/2012 - 16 December 1951. The club of Corbisier at the Place Fontainas in “A la Cour de Bruxelles” is packed with people. This is the same club where pigeons of Karel Wegge were sold 53 years ago.
