Team van Oss (Velddriel, NL) is building a promising future with his icon Olympic Yoni

After the auction 

At the beginning of January 2023, the entire colony of Team van Oss was brought to auction on PIPA. The auction was a direct result of the passing away of father Rien in July 2022, the nestor of Team van Oss. However, son Irving was determined to follow in his father's footsteps. He has plans of his own in pigeon sport. An important role is reserved for the icon NL18-1222348 Olympic Yoni, which Irving managed to keep for himself after the Team van Oss auction.

Olympic Yoni

Irving is convinced that NL18-1222348 Olympic Yoni is one of the best, if not the very best, allround pigeon of this century. This hen was bred by Kees de L'or, racing under the name Mrs. Snellen & Zoon (s'-Hertogenbosch, NL), from 2 direct Team van Oss pigeons. It was then Geert-Jan Meuwese (Lewedorp, NL) who selected her as a youngster from Kees on a voucher he had purchased. In 2020 it quickly became clear that Olympic Yoni was a special one. That year she achieved two victories, finished as Ace Pigeon Allround in Zeeland '96 and excelled as 4th Best Allround pigeon in the national competition 'De Allerbeste'. In 2021, Olympic Yoni truly went full gas. She was again the best allround pigeon in Zeeland '96 and was crowned 1st Allround Ace Pigeon of The Netherlands. With her performances in 2020/2021, she earned the title of 3rd Dutch Olympiad pigeon in Cat. D Allround 2020-2021, a ticket for the Olympiad in Romania. Father Rien van Oss came to an agreement with Geert-Jan Meuwese and Olympic Yoni moved to the breeding lofts of Team van Oss in Velddriel. In January 2023, an article was published on PIPA that was entirely devoted to the racing wonder Olympic Yoni. In that article, the focus was put on her pedigree, and all parents and grandparents were introduced. Breeding results 

Irving has full confidence in Olympic Yoni when it comes to her expected breeding value. With two of her direct children, Irving has already managed to achieve Top 10 results in the region (Afdeling 7 Region Z3) on Bierges in 2023. The NL23-9410262 won a 2nd and the NL23-9410206 a 9th against 2,095 pigeons. On the lofts of Geert-Jan Meuwese, a pigeon bred from a full brother of NL17-1412345 Golden Harriet (the mother of Olympic Yoni) won a 2nd Roye against 1,980 pigeons. References of great performances achieved with pigeons from Team van Oss keep coming in. The most striking references from the past undoubtedly came from Mevr. Snellen en Zoon, with NL18-1227501 Edwin (a/o 1st National Ace Pigeon Long Distance 2021/2022) and his sister NL18-1227502 Diny (a/o 3rd Dutch Olympiad pigeon Allround 2019/2020), both bred from the pair BE10-5182803 De Pros x NL16-1663449 Lady Harry. In addition to the aforementioned achievements of Geert-Jan Meuwese, he also won a 1st Morlincourt against 1231 pigeons with a pigeon bred from a direct Van Oss. Furthermore, Gebr. Homma won a 1st Provincial with a direct pigeon from Oss (from Toms Gift) and Gebr. Pouw managed a spectacular result with pigeons from the lines (50%) of Team van Oss (Harry 608) and won 3x Top 10 in the afdeling (province). 

Irving goes on 

Irving is steadily building his dreamed super colony with pigeons from the best breeders of the past. Some pigeons that he was able to keep for himself after the Team van Oss auction are invaluable in his plans. In addition to pigeons such as Olympic Yoni and a son of Porsche 911, NL18-5140871 Kyann (7th National Ace Pigeon Long Distance NPO 2019) also returned to the lofts in Velddriel.
