
First open and first SE section was won by Bryce and Lloyd Scutt from Portsmouth with a two year old on 1178ypm over 290 miles. The partners timed three birds in the top ten of the result with their next two pigeons taking fourth and seventh open on 1106 and 1094.1ypm respectively. First to time is a chequer Vandenabeele x Louis Cooreman cock bird. The sire is a son of the partner's Old Boy, a previous multiple winner. Second on the clock was a De Rauw Sablon hen with a first club, fourth fed from Perth last season. Third to time was a Vandenabeele, inbred to their top racer, 89. All their birds are raced on the widowhood / roundabout system with just exercise around the loft.
L and M Dyer of Nettlestone clocked a yearling on 1143ypm over a distance of 297 miles to take second open and second SE section. Lee and Maureen had excellent returns and their second open winner is a small dark hen, bred for the distance as it contains Padfield's Jack, De Paarsborst, Black Giant, Kleine Jade and New Laureate bloodlines.
Darren Ede and Family were third open and third SE section with a three year old on 1123ypm over 283 miles. Darren's timer is from a son of Harry and the dam, Lady Miracle, was a Dutch hen bought at auction against huge competition.
The Ramsdean loft of Wearn Brothers and Neilson were fifth open and fifth SE section with a two year old on 1098ypm over 278 miles. First on the clock for the partners was bred from a son of John and David Staddon's Champion Evie x daughter New Laureaat. They had eighty percent of their pigeons home on the day.
K and J Zerafa of Portsmouth took sixth open and sixth SE section with a three year old on 1094.7ypm over 291 miles. Kevin's hen has the heart of a lioness as she came back having hit a wire and with mud all over her feet. The sire is a son of Mark Gilbert's Southfield Melissa, 1st international Agen and the dam was bred by Joost De Smeyter and is a daughter of Nico, 1st national ace pigeon long distance KDBD in 2014.
L Patterson of Portsmouth timed two pigeons on 1091ypm over a distance on 288 miles, to take eighth and ninth open, eighth and ninth SE section. First on the clock was a two year old, closely followed by a yearling. Both birds dropped together and had mud on their feet so had obviously stopped off for a drink. First to time for Lee was bred from a direct son of Chris Howse's Jalta and a double grand-daughter of Crammond and Langstaff's Fontwell Flash Harry. Second on the clock came from Lee's Geerinckx family of pigeons with a cross from Sablon Albrecht through New Freddy and Lucky 848 bloodlines.
Completing the top ten and in tenth SE section are M Duffell and Son from Havant. The partners timed a two year old on 1083ypm over 286 miles. Mark timed a widowhood cock of his own breeding and that had seven races with the Solent Fed before being sent to Hexham.
Around the sections
Mr and Mrs Peart of Gloucester were first NW section with a three year old on 1050ypm over 215 miles. The section winner was bred from Stan Dangerfield and Roger Lowe's bloodlines and has been a consistent racer.
Steve Slade of Calne was second NW section with a yearling hen on 1043ypm over a distance of 243 miles. The dam of Steve's winner is a grand-daughter of Young Laureaat which he purchased from the House of Aarden stud. The sire came from Joe Raeburn of Melksham.
P Rixon of Reading was the NE section winner with a two year old on 1033ypm over 245 miles. Peter's hen had been racing south before being switched north for Wakefield and Hexham in the Classic. The dam is out of Che x Mystique bloodlines.
Owen Abery of Reading was second NW section, timing a four year old on 1014ypm over 247 miles. Owen's timer was a celibate cock that has previously flown Bergerac. It is bred down from Mark Gilbert's De Weerdts which he gifted to Owen in 2012.
The SW section winners were Mel and Sue King from Blandford with a two year old Vandenabeele hen raced on a celibate x roundabout system on 1013ypm over 285 miles. The sire of Mel and Sue's pigeon was bred by Joe Raeburn out of Sir Alex when paired to a daughter of their first open winner from Falaise. The dam is a daughter of De Chateauroux of Rudi De Saer.
Mr and Mrs Smith of Salisbury were second SW section with a four year old on 1012ypm over 268 miles. Nick timed a blue cock, flown on the widowhood system and containing his old, Fred Bloor bloodlines.
