Roger Debusschere (Lokeren, BE) breeder and supplier of super pigeons

In 2020, Roger Debusschere booked his second national victory with a 1st Nat. Bourges. In 2021, the 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB and 4th Nat. Ace Pigeon in France were won by Debusschere pigeons on colleague fanciers' lofts.

Only the best is good enough

Anyone who knows Roger Debusschere, knows that he is just as fond of breeding than of racing pigeons. His goal is to populate his loft with the very best of modern-day pigeon sport, with the focus on National winners and National Ace pigeons and/or their direct descendants. It gives him satisfaction to breed pigeons that manage the greatest triumphs, on his own lofts and on those of fellow fanciers. Call it his pigeon philosophy, in which he has succeeded quite well. His eye for top pigeons is beyond dispute. The reference lists from fellow fanciers who succeeded with his pigeons is enormous and are gradually taking on a book form. Playing at the top yourself, and allowing fellow sportsmen to enjoy your investments and top class on their own lofts, isn't that the beauty of our sport? It gives Roger as much pleasure as achieving these top performances himself. He is responsible for 2 x 1st National winners and National ace pigeons and top references that many can only dream of.

2 x 1st National

On the lofts of Baert-Debusschere from Ere (near Doornik), Roger and his companion Damien already managed 2 x 1st National victories. It was Mexence BE12-4210234 that was triumphant in 2014, winning the 1st National Tulle against 5,976 old birds… after winning a 1st Bourges against 564 p. and 3rd Nat. Zone Bourges 3,788 p., 1st Souppes-sur-Loing 499 p., 11th Prov Montluçon 3,892 p. and 14. Nat Zone La Souterraine 1,123 p. He descends from a direct Gaby Vandenabeele: Beauty Bliksem (son Returned Bliksem) x Bernadette, a direct Bernard Van Renterghem (and double granddaughter of his stock pair). Bernard became 1st Nat. Champion KBDB in 2021.

Another triumph came last year in 2020 on the sweltering, tropical National Bourges II on August 8th. Flown under a bright blue sky with headwinds and temperatures of around 38°C… the warmest August 8th since the records of the KMI. Reason to cancel all young bird races, but the old bird races continued. Damien and Roger won 1st National Bourges against 5,294 old birds with Mexendre BE18-4108552. This top athlete had already shown signs of class with a 6th Nat. Zone Issoudun 2,860 p., 42nd Intprov Argenton 1,290 p., 99th Intprov Argenton 3,012 p… Both his father and mother are grandchildren of Joël x Flamande, the stock couple of Damien Baert… this in a crossing with the lines from Gaby Vandenabeele and Gebr. Herbots (line Yvan: 1st Nat. Ace pigeon Middle Distance KBDB '09). His father is a full brother of Connor: 1st Intprov. Vierzon 11,073 p., and Mandy: 1st Prov Bourges 2,237 p. – 6th Nat Bourges 31,719 p…. The apple didn't fall far from the tree here either; winning at the highest level is clearly in their genes.

Father 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2021

The reference list from fanciers who found reinforcement in Roger Debusschere's Royal Collection is gradually taking on an extensive form. In 2021, a wonderful reference was added; the sire of the 1st National Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2021 Yearlings and 1st Best European Yearling Extreme Long Distance – across 2 races (PIPA ranking) at fellow club member Patrick Logghe (from Zelzate) is a direct Roger Debusschere pigeon. He descends from Le Gaulois II, a direct Nihoul (son of stock pigeon Timide – Nihoul) x La Brive (winner 2nd Nat. Brive 9,049 p.).

4th Nat. Ace Pigeon France 2021 with a direct Roger Debusschere

Fellow fancier Maxime Renaud from Erre (France) won the 4th Nat. Ace Pigeon in 2021 with a super pigeon BE21-4018120, a direct Roger Debusschere. He was bred from Best Brother Mexence BE16-4104629 (i.e. from Beauty Bliksem x Bernadette) paired to Sister Michel Jarnac BE17-1038581, a direct late Michel Dufermont… a full sister to Michel Jarnac, winner 1st Nat. Jarnac 5,311 pigeons and fastest of 10,200 pigeons in 2018 (also owned by Roger Debusschere), a real long distance crack who also won 94th Nat. Argenton 11.823 p., 139th Nat. Bourges 20.759 p. and 173rd Nat. Bourges 20,284 p... A breeding line with immense heritability. From Michel Jarnac BE16-1013290: 1st Nat Jarnac, as well as from of his sister several top pigeons were bred on the lofts of Roger Debusschere in barely 2 years’ time. World-class!

There are countless references that pour in year after year from fellow sportsmen who have achieved top performances with pigeons from Roger Debusschere. Here we only shed light on the absolute best, the suppliers of national ace pigeons. Although all these references do Roger Debusschere good. Especially as his age is starting to count, and corona also hit him hard. In the meantime, he has recovered, and the will to take up his beloved sport once again is back … with fewer pigeons, but with the same ambition as ever. Ready to breed new stars for himself and his fellow sportsmen… preferably new 1st National winners or national ace pigeons or suppliers of such super pigeons. With the quality that resides in the breeding lofts of Roger Debusschere, including several 1st National winners, ace pigeons and/or direct children of the like, this is certainly possible. Roger knows better than anyone, that 1st prize winners and ace pigeons descend from 1st prize winners and ace pigeons. No doubt about it!
