Dave & Vince Padfield
The Padfield Family of Cwmtillery timed two pigeons to take first and second west section, first and third open. The winner was a four year old on 512mpm over 1213km. Second to clock was a five year old on 491mpm. The breeding of both pigeons is very similar as the dams of both are full sisters containing the best of Peter Titmus' Herron's Pride and Ken Hine's Charvill Kayleigh bloodlines, through the Ken Hine Hen. On the sire's side there are the old tried and tested Padfield Wim Muller bloodlines that have won scores of prizes at national and international level.
Third open winner
D Wilton & Son
D Wilton and Son from Chadwell St Mary were first east section and second open with a five year old on 506mpm over 1121km. Rob and Andrew timed a chequer hen sent sitting twelve day eggs. Both the sire and dam of this hen were bred by Mark Bulled of Harlow. The sire was bred from two Lerwick combine winners and the dam is a daughter of Die Hard, Mark's top cock and Hall of Fame winner. Die Hard is also the sire of Legacy, Mark's Tarbes grand national winner.
Bob Bate
Bob Bate of Lovedean timed a three year old on 458mpm over 1080km to take first centre section and fourth open. Bob's winning cock was bred for him by Terry Gardner of Portshewett in Wales. It contains the best Jan Aarden bloodlines and was sent to the race feeding a seven day old squeaker.
Goddard & Son
Second centre section and fifth open was a six year old on 457mpm over 1139km for R J Goddard and Son of Reading. Dave clocked a blue hen, named Champion Ruby Blue, on its fourth race from Spain. Champion Ruby Blue was bred by Mick Parrish of Great Burstead from a long line of distance pigeons. It was sent to the race feeding a five day old squeaker.
Bill Knox
SR and WH Knox of Tyler Hill were second east section and sixth open with a five year old on 432mpm over 1098km. Bill clocked a a mealy cock, named Proactive and containing the best of the Kirkpatrick bloodlines going back to G Dawes and N Barrett. It was sent to the race sitting twelve day eggs.
Mark and Karen Gilbert
Mark Gilbert of Windsor was third centre section and seventh open with a six year old on 359mpm over 1131km. Mark timed his game hen, a grand-daughter of Brockamp's Euro Diamond, on the morning of the fourth day.
S Rhodes
Mr and Mrs S Rhodes of Aylesham timed a three year old on 343mpm over 1088km to take third east section and eighth open. They timed a second pigeon, another three year old on 274mpm to also take fourth east section and tenth open. First on the clock was a dark velvet cock containing Jan Aarden bloodlines and bred by Steve and Lesley Wright of the House of Aarden. De Barcelona 862, De Barcelona Missy, Broken Warrior and Warrior Princess all feature in the pedigree. Second to time was another direct House of Aarden pigeon, a dark chequer cock containing the bloodlines of Titas x Sister Victoria and The President x Sister Victoria.
John Halstead
John Halstead of Kington Magna timed a four year old on 309mpm over 115km to take third west section and ninth open. John timed his single entry, Nyland Reco. The sire to Nyland Reco is a son of Nyland Ashley, whilst the dam was purchased from Graham Clift of Tirley and is from his daughter of Tuff Nut when mated to a son of Brian's Blue, so pure Brian Denny bloodlines.
