John Crehan (Salford, UK) has two pigeons representing the UK at the Olympiad in Brussels

After another successful season in 2016, John Crehan had two pigeons qualify for the UK Olympiad team in Brussels. Both bred by Jan Hooymans and raced by John, Olympic Jan qualified for the yearling class whilst Olympic Janette will be in the young bird class.

John Crehan and Jan Hooymans' collaboration first started in 2014 when the first batch of youngsters bred in Jan's stock loft made their way to Manchester for John to race. Since then each year has seen more youngsters arrive in the UK and in 2016 John raced two year olds, yearlings and youngsters all direct from Jan's classic pigeons such as Harry, Mystique, James Bond, Cees, Alexia and Rooney. Recent introductions from the lines of New Harry and his sire, Beauty Harry have also been made.

Representing the UK in the Olympiad yearling category will be Olympic Jan, NL15-1849658. Olympic Jan's qualifying performances are as follows:

Olympic Janette was the winner of the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, North West Region young bird award for 2016. This hen will represent the UK in the young bird category, based on the following performances:

John completed in two races with the Midlands National Flying Club and scored second section, thirty-fifth open from Bedhampton, 185 miles, 7,176p. and eighth section, seventy-fifth open from Vire, 325 miles, 6,917p.

John Crehan has not looked back since he started his collaboration with Jan Hooymans and both fanciers can be proud of the fact that two of these pigeons will be in the UK Olympiad team.
