Roger Mylle (Bellegem, BE) continues to be a national star in 2019

Roger claimed a 5th Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance & extreme long distance YLs KBDB in 2018, and he had Belgium's best pigeon from Perpignan across two seasons in his collection as well. And he continued to claim national titles the following season, with a 9th Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance & extreme long distance YLs KBDB 2019, and a title of 14th Nat. Champion KBDB in the same discipline. Impressive!

National ace pigeons and national titles underline status as national star

Roger Mylle's pigeon career is full of highlights. His pigeons have repeatedly excelled and delivered in national and international competitions, and Roger's list of achievements includes numerous national championship titles KBDB. He added the following titles to his palmares in recent years:

Quite a list.

The 2019 season was another great success for the pigeon family of Roger Mylle. Despite some physical discomfort after a bike crash, causing the caretaking to be carried out almost entirely by his wife Jeanine, team Mylle had another great racing season with many great results. Think for instance of a 1st Club Barcelona 121 p. and a 1st-2nd Club Libourne YLs (with a 1st and 2nd nominated), and so much more. It led to many national top results as well, including several national top 100 finishes across the 2019 season:

 7. Nat Limoges II 10,783 YLs
12. Nat Libourne 4,354 YLs
13. Nat Libourne 4,354 YLs
14. Nat Narbonne 3,873 olds
25. Nat Narbonne 3,580 YLs
36. Nat Limoges I 13,569 olds
41. Nat Libourne 4,354 YLs

46. Nat Libourne 4,354 Ys
50. Nat Limoges I 13,569 olds
75. Nat Narbonne 3,873 olds

And we saw a few excellent overall results in the national long distance as well:

Libourne Nat 4,354 YLs: 12-13-41-46-411 (5/5)
Libourne Nat 4,605 olds: 181-305-355-387-423-549-583 (7/7)
Narbonne Nat 3,580 YLs: 25-126 (2/3)
Narbonne Nat 3,873 olds: 14-75… (3/8)

Montauban Nat 5,408 olds: 182-322-670… (5/6)

This palmares illustrates the strength and the great potential of the modern-day Mylle racing bird, both in the long distance and extreme long distance.

De Labeeuw, a golden stock breeder

One of the number one breeders in the pigeon family of Roger Mylle is Labeeuw BE10-3076207 of fellow fancier Frans Labeeuw, who has a collection of pure Aloïs Stichelbaut pigeons in his team. And these are particularly powerful long distance birds, strong as steel, indefatigable, combining both speed and strength. It was thanks to these characteristics that they became true champions in the long distance and extreme long distance, tough to beat in races of between say 600 and 1000km. It promptly turned the Stichelbaut pigeons into the most wanted pigeons worldwide. Frans Labeeuw, whose father Daniel was a very good friend of the late Aloïs Stichelbaut, inherited his father's invaluable Stichelbaut pigeon family, and he was one of the, if not the last fancier of this new millennium to excel with 100% purebred Stichelbaut pigeons - the breed in its purest form!

Numerous other pigeon lofts that invested in pigeons of Frans Labeeuw have in turn become very successful with this Stichelbaut breed as well, and one of them was Roger Mylle, whose Labeeuw proved a fantastic stock breeder. This pigeon has already bred a whole host of champions and race winners in the long and extreme long distance. The invaluable "black birds" - referring to the characteristic dark colour of the chequered Stichelbaut pigeons - have been writing history in Roger Mylle's pigeon lofts.

Stock breeder Labeeuw was bred straight from the bloodline of Favorie BE99-3283078 Stichelbaut: a pairing of Son x Granddaughter Favorie. This Favorie was for instance the sire of the famous Montauban 756/01 (5x winner in Barcelona and winner of Primus Inter Pares 2008 Barcelona). It is clear that Labeeuw has the ability to breed new generations of pigeons that are just as gifted as him. And his son St. Vincent is a perfect example.

45. Nat St.Vincent 3,240 p. ’14
83. Nat Cahors 7,140 p. ’14

Besides superstar St. Vincent, stock breeder Labeeuw is also the sire of several other nationally renowned racing birds, including:

-Francis BE13-3004018: winner of 59th Nat. Brive 3,850 p. ’14, 64th Nat. Libourne 5,026 p. ’15, 19th Prov. Narbonne 683 p. ’16, 26th Prov. Perpignan 937 p. and 132nd Nat. 4,620 p. in ’17. Francis is one of the big stars of today in Roger Mylle's breeding lofts.

-Patrick BE12-3040930: winner of a 60th Nat. Narbonne 4,047 p. ’15, 87th Prov. Gueret 2,201 p., 119th Nat. Montluçon 19,840 p., and 144th Prov. Tours 6,720 p.

The exceptional breeding potential of stock breeder Labeeuw can be seen across many generations, as you can tell for instance from the star of the 2019 yearlings' team: the amazing Bagatelie. He is a very powerful bird, which you can tell from his appearance. Any fancier that gets to see this fantastic athlete in person is confident that Bagatelie will be outstanding again in 2020, and in future seasons as well.

Thanks to these results, he was also 12th best yearling of Belgium across 3 national long distance races in 2019. This is his pedigree:

He is a son of Dirk BE13-3004132 (half brother of Pau Joël: Belgium's best pigeon in Perpignan across two seasons 2017-18) x Elientje BE13-3004094 (half sister of St. Vincent: Belgium's best pigeon of St. Vincent across 3 seasons 2014-2016, and best pigeon St. Vincent international across two seasons 2015-2016.

From the successful bloodline of that other superstar in Roger Mylle's collection: Erik. Chantal is a daughter of Brian BE12-3040918 (a crossing of the lines of Majoor of Gaby Vandenabeele x Dax of Rene Verborgt) x Julietje BE11-3048206 (full sister of Erik, winner of a 1st Poitiers 324 p., a 2nd prov. Argenton 3,448 p., a 6th Nat. Limoges 19,373 p., a 25th Nat. Limoges of 10,448 p.). Click here for the pedigree of Bagatelie

Bagatelie, 9th Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance & extreme long distance YLs KBDB 2019, features in this movie.

Besides the successful Labeeuw bloodline, Roger can rely on several other top breeders that have contributed to his many championship titles and ace pigeons in recent years. Think for instance of Erik (1st Prov. Ace Pigeon long distance KBDB 2010, and a great-grandfather of both 5th Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB 2018 Ata and 9th Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB 2019 Bagatelie), son Stijn (from the line of Witpen Rivaldo x Stanics of the late Etienne Devos), the line of Zatopek (2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance KBDB for the late Sylvere Toye), and of course the line of long distance star Matthieu-Pau.

Sire Mathieu Pau and his son Pau-Joël: a second important bloodline

We all know the pigeon racing axiom that says that champions breed champions. A telling example would be Matthieu-Pau, as well as his son Pau-Joël. These are two superior long distance and extreme long distance champions.

-Mathieu-Pau BE06-3003346

313 Nat Montauban 7,203 p. ’09
677 Int Narbonne 14,505 p. ’09
Etc.

Mathieu-Pau is proving to be an exceptional breeder; he has what it takes to pass on his many qualities to future generations. And the number one exponent is his son Pau-Joël, one of Belgium's strongest marathon racing birds in the international extreme long distance.

-Pau-Joël BE13-3004108

1. Best pigeon in Perpignan in Belgium - across 2 seasons 2017-18 (PIPA ranking)
 1. Prov Narbonne 527 p. ’14
29. Nat Narbonne 2,802 p. ’14

78. Nat Limoges II 7,274 p. ’18
85. Nat St.Vincent 2,562 p. ’16

Like we said, this Pau-Joël has some excellent origins indeed. His sire, Mathieu Pau BE06-3003346, claimed a 1st Pau of 256 p. and a 2nd Nat. Pau of 2,338 p. And his dam Super kweekster Verschoot BE11-3047921 originates from the superstar in the long distance in 2017 and 2018: none other than Mr. Armando of Joël Verschoot from Ingelmunster. She is a granddaughter of superstar Red Opium (1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Belgian Long Distance Trophy) of Sylvere Toye, paired to a half sister of 1st Nat. Bourges BE09-3127265 of Wilfried Vandemaele (from Half Brother Figo of Noël Lippens, 1st Millennium Ace Pigeon, paired to the dam of a 1st Nat. Bourges).

Those that have taken a closer look at the origins of the different Roger Mylle champions have probably seen that that same Mathieu-Pau is also the grandfather of Zaaf BE16-3006913 (38th Nat. Angoulême of 4,525 p. '18, 91st Prov. Chateauroux 2,328 p., 168th Nat. Libourne 3,176 p. ’18, 293rd Nat. Limoges 7,274 p.), which is in turn the sire of superstar Bagatelie: 9th Nat. Ace Pigeon long distance & extreme long distance YLs KBDB in 2019! This is a combination of Roger Mylle's two super class bloodlines, from which a new superstar was bred that became a national ace pigeon KBDB. Good blood never lies!

Roger Mylle, ages like good wine

Even though Roger Mylle turned 80 last year, he continues to excel in the long distance and extreme long distance, both at national and international level. Not with a large group of birds but rather with a select team of top class birds. Roger Mylle has been on top of his game both at professional level (as the founder of the Mydibel company) and as a pigeon fancier. And he has just one secret: he uses only the best of ingredients to create a top quality product, a supreme final product that enables him to stand out from the crowd. Or in pigeon racing terms: he breeds pigeons from proven super class birds, getting the most out of their invaluable genes and their breeding value. These super class birds form the basis for a new generation of ace pigeons, race winners and other champions. He selects his best pigeons based on their achievements, while the weaker birds are inevitably left out.
This is the shortest and the safest road to success; this is how you achieve long-lasting success in pigeon racing. Roger Mylle, a fancier with plenty of life wisdom and life experience, knows what he's doing. His fantastic achievements and his impressive number of championship and ace pigeon titles in recent years clearly show that he is on the right track. He sets a great example for fellow fanciers.
