Benny Steveninck and his wife Karin
August - a great month for the young birds
The young birds of Benny Steveninck have been in excellent form over the past several weeks. In addition to their provincial first prize from Chateauroux (and a silver medal) they also claimed several other top results in the middle distance in recent weeks. We have had both northerly and southerly wind recently but that did not seem to affect Benny's pigeons at all. This is a fantastic pigeon breed that combines strength, endurance, intelligence and speed. All in all, these pigeons can excel in all weather conditions.
Here is an overview of their results in recent weeks:

Chateauroux II (10/08)
The most eye-catching result in recent weeks is without doubt Chateauroux II on 10/08, where they claim gold and silver against 5,165 pigeons. Pigeons reached speeds of over 1,900 m/min, so it was crucially important to have a good sense of direction, and to really go hard. There was no margin for error, it was all about pure strength and explosiveness.
BE19-4147949: 1st Provincial Chateauroux (5,165 young birds)
The provincial winner won the following prizes earlier on:
Chevrainvilliers: 25th of 986 pigeons Chevrainvilliers: 94th of 644 pigeons Chevrainvilliers: 173rd of 964 pigeons
The sire of the provincial winner was born from a joint breeding with the PIPA Elite Center: a fantastic crossing of Posche 911 (5th National Ace Pigeon longer middle distance KBDB and winner of a 7th, 11th and 52nd National) and superstar Sun of Benny's own collection. Sun was a 1st National Ace Pigeon long distance young birds KBDB 2013 and winner of a 1st provincial La Souterraine, a 3rd provincial Argenton, etc. The grandfather of Sun is none other than Benny's own world famous stock breeder: Chipo.
The joint breeding with Sun and the stars of the PIPA Elite Center was an instant success.
The dam is a granddaughter of that same Chipo. Just so you know, this super class breeder was himself a 1st provincial ace pigeon middle distance KBDB 2003 before developing into an invaluable breeder. Chihaut 98, the grandfather of the provincial winner in Chateauroux II, was in turn a 3rd National Ace Pigeon middle distance KBDB 2008, and winner of 5 first prizes.
You can tell from her origins that the dam is related to Sun as well.

BE19-4147992: 2nd Provincial Chateauroux (5,165 young birds)
The silver medal winner in Chateauroux had already won a few top prizes, including a 119th provincial Bourges (5,968 pigeons) - 8th club of 603 pigeons, as well as a 47th Chevrainvilliers (986 pigeons), a 115th Chevrainvilliers (964 pigeons) and a 156th provincial Orleans (6,154 pigeons).
The sire is a direct Anthony Maes. He is a grandson of the world famous Rudy of Gaby Vandenabeele from his father's side, which had been paired to super class hen Papillon of Anthony Maes. And that same Papillon is also the dam of this breeding cock. This makes him inbred to the winner of a 1st provincial Bourges (2,365 pigeons), a 1st provincial Chateauroux (3,076 pigeons) and a 2nd provincial Tours (5,697 pigeons).
The dam is a daughter of the two superstars De Gueret x Fantasia, or the 1st National Limoges 2009 (and 1st provincial Gueret / 19th National 2008) paired to a 1st National Tours. And both national winners are also closely related to stock breeder Chippo.
Benny Steveninck has discovered a new top class breeder: De Gueret
You can read all about it in the full pedigree, which you can find here.
This provincial first prize from Chateauroux is Benny's second provincial victory of the season (after his provincial first prize from Argenton earlier in the season). The Chippo - Sun - De Gueret bloodlines continue to produce great racing birds, both for Benny's team and for other lofts. These are proving to be invaluable bloodlines indeed, and we think there is a lot to come from these lines.
