The success team of DVV-pigeons:
Johan De Vroe, Rudi Vandeputte, Tom Van Gaver and his father Marnik Van Gaver
A few years ago pigeon fanciers Johan De Vroe, Tom Van Gaver and Rudi Vandeputte decided to start working together. They belong to a generation of fairly young pigeon fanciers. They had a clear goal in mind: to make it to the top and to win great results at national level, with every fancier focusing on one single discipline. This was the start of a successful combination.
DVV-pigeons (De Vroe, Van Gaver, Vandeputte) stands for a triumvirate led by Johan De Vroe. His lofts are home to a team of young birds; his neighbours Marnik and his son Tom Van Gaver are running a team of old widower cocks. The team's racing hens are kept in the loft of Rudi Vandeputte in Lemberg, just a few kilometres up the road. (click here for the best results of the hens in 2016). This approach was their key to success.
In 2013 the combination gained a reputation winning the title of 1st National Bourges 18,478 YBs with the fastest pigeon overall of 39,917 racing birds. It marked the start of a brilliant career marked with spectacular overall results, prestigious victories and provincial and national titles. It was the breeding value of stock pair Kleine Schonen x Van Gaver Duivin that really launched the national career of DVV pigeons. In 2015 they won the title of General Provincial Champion KBDB East Flanders, as well as a 1st Nat. Jarnac against 4,557 yearlings. In the upcoming Olympiad in Brussels Square they will also be awarded the title of national champion long distance old birds, as the best long distance fanciers of Belgium in 2016. DVV pigeons have been doing really well in recent seasons, making them one of Belgium's strongest teams at national level.
1st National Champion long distance old birds KBDB 2016
The team of DVV-pigeons has its focus on the national classics, the (national) ace pigeon championships and the KBDB championships. They won't leave a stone unturned to reach their goals. The pigeons are really put to the test, trying to push their limits. In recent years the widower cocks competed in almost every consecutive national longer middle distance race, just to let the strongest pigeons stand out. The same approach is now being tested in the long distance as well, by having their pigeons compete in two (or even more) long distance races in a row. It paid off, and the team managed to win a national long distance title and a few other prestigious victories. These are the team's most important achievements:
-1st National Champion long distance old birds KBDB 2016 -1st Prov. 1,592 YL and 1st N.Zone Tulle 2,761 YL 2016 -1st N.Zone Bourges 5,014 YL 2016 -3rd Best old bird long distance of Belgium – 5 races PIPA ranking -4th Provincial Champion long distance old birds + YL KBDB (1st + 2nd nom.) -4th Best YL long distance of Belgium – 4 races PIPA ranking -6th Provincial Champion middle distance old birds + YL KBDB (1st + 2nd nom.) -6th Best old bird long distance of Belgium – 5 races PIPA ranking -8th Best old bird long distance of Belgium – 5 races PIPA ranking -9th Provincial Ace Pigeon long distance old birds + YL KBDB 2016 -11th Provincial Ace Pigeon middle distance old birds + YL KBDB 2016 -11th General Champion of Belgium KBDB 2016 -11th National Ace Pigeon longer middle distance YL KBDB 2016 -12th National Champion longer middle distance YL KBDB 2106 -12th National Ace Pigeon extreme long distance YL KBDB 2016
This is quite an impressive palmares, based on an exceptional team of racing birds that has been tailored by the experienced fanciers of DVV. These pigeons have to meet very high standards in order to get on the team, as you can tell from the three pigeons that are mainly responsible for winning the title of Long Distance Champion of Belgium.
