Gevaert-Lannoo (Meigem-Deinze, BE) take the win from Vierzon

The longer middle distance competition took off last weekend, and Paul and Carlos were victorious right away, claiming victory from Vierzon in the Long Distance Club of Eeklo with an impressive eight minute lead.

The outstanding middle distance pigeon breed of the Gevaert-Lannoo combination is used to dominating important races and winning early prizes. The fanciers aim for quality not quantity, and their approach has proved quite successful. Their extensive palmares is nothing short of impressive. Last year their impressive racing team won many provincial and national titles, including that of 1st Prov. Champion Long Distance Young Birds KBDB, 1st Prov. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB, 2nd General Champion KBDB East-Flanders, 4th Nat. Champion Young Birds KBDB (national races) and a 5th and 6th National Ace Pigeon KBDB.

Their main objective was to be at least as successful in 2016, which is easier said than done. They have a fairly small collection of pigeons, with no more than 12 pairs of racing birds (olds and yearlings together) and about 35 youngsters. Yet they have managed to excel in the provincial and national longer middle distance classics season after season, claiming numerous victories.

They took their first victory of 2016 in the very first provincial classic of 2016 from Vierzon! It was racing hen Alonsa that beat the 1,213 pigeons basketed in Long Distance Club Eeklo. She also took the win against 922 old birds with an impressive 8 minute lead. Team Gevaert-Lannoo won a total of nine prizes from Vierzon with only 11 basketed pigeons. This loft has also won a first prize from Fontenay, which shows that they are in great form...

This is a brief overview of their results in the weekend of 15 May:
