Marc Pollin (Snellegem, BE) has another great star in his collection

Marc had a tragic start to the season when Diana, Marc’s wife and the mother of Geert, got involved in a serious traffic accident. She was severely injured. At the moment she is still in a long rehabilitation process. Marc and Geert have dedicated their title in the extreme long distance old birds to her.

They think her motivation and dedication to get better makes her the greatest champion of all.

The Pollin family

The Pollin pigeons have an excellent reputation both at home and abroad. Marc has always been a passionate pigeon fancier who lives for his sport, which you can tell by the races he completes: his goal is simply to win in any race between Arras and Barcelona. He won the national title extreme long distance this season, while also winning the General Championship IWV and several other championship titles, including 16 clean first prizes. He started the season with 100 widowers (60 old birds/40 yearlings) and ten hens. He has also bred 150 youngsters from three rounds, which are now trained to become successful yearlings. Marc thinks caretaking is a key priority. For instance, he uses nothing but high quality feeds and mixtures. He provides a daily mixture of Versele-Laga, as well as some Kaucabam throughout the season.

National title Extreme Long Distance

You have to take part in three races with a first and second nominated to be able to join this championship. These are the results that counted for the championship:

Pau:
1st nominated: 67th / 2,025 p.
2nd nominated: 87th
Bordeaux (Agen):
1st nominated: 30th / 5,507 p.
2nd nominated: 64th
Barcelona:

The Pollin family has won the championship title with six different pigeons. Two of them, the 056/08 and the 059/08 have been very busy in 2013, with a top result from Pau and Marseille. The two pigeons landed only five minutes from each other in the race from Pau. We give you some of their best results:

De 3080056/08 of Marc Pollin achieved a higher speed than Euro Regio, the winner of the race. The sire of this 056/08 is Zoon Blake, which is in turn a brother of Mortifer, Olympiad pigeon 2002 category C marathon. Mortifer is also winner of a 2nd nat. Montauban, a 9th nat. Limoges, a 20th nat. Limoges, a 26th nat. Irun etc. The dam of the 056/08 is Dochter Perpignan, the daughter of a true legend in pigeon racing. This famous Perpignan was winner of the first international Perpigan against 14,383 pigeons in 1994, as well as a 144th, a 96th, a 90th and a 677th international from Perpignan.
