(19/07/2018) Joost De Smeyter-Restiaen (Melden, BE) takes revenge with a 1st Int. Barcelona hens and 5 x top 25 national

Without even knowing, Joost basketed a group of infected pigeons for the 2017 race from Barcelona. This, combined with the demanding and unpredictable weather, caused him to lose quite a few experienced racing birds that day. He was out for revenge: he claimed a 1st Int. Barcelona Hens (2nd Int.) and 5 national top 25 prizes, with the help of top breeder Joost.

(19/07/2018) Second national victory for Casaert-Sénéchal (Russeignies, BE) on Jarnac against 4,802 yearlings!

Another well established name from the Belgian pigeon sport just added a brand new national victory to his name, this time with the race from Jarnac. Three years after La Souterraine, the partnership of Casaert-Sénéchal just booked the second national victory of their career.

Stef Bals is a young and highly talented pigeon fancier who surprised his colleagues repeatedly in the past. The race from Sens is the first major highlight in his pigeon racing career: he wins the first four prizes in Province Brabant 2000.

Only two days before the St. Vincent International I had the privilege of making a visit to the famous lofts of Mark Gilbert, with my good friend Mick Bunney, Life vice president of the BICC. One could describe it, as the complete pigeon day.

We go back in time to 1995 and the national race from Châteauroux, where team Vermeerbergen-Wilms caught pigeon fanciers across the globe in amazement, winning a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th national of more than 10,000 pigeons!

A national first prize does not happen overnight but sometimes you can tell from the results in previous races that a pigeon loft is up to something special. In fact, many fanciers were not surprised to see the Gino Clicque pigeon breed take home a national victory in the yearlings' race from Châteauroux II.

The past few weeks have all been about the Red Devils playing a great World Cup in Russia, with such players as Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku and Courtois being among the world's most renowned players. And pigeon racing has its international stars as well, one of them would be "The Barcelona" of Erik Limbourg.

The renowned Chipo bloodline continues to deliver for Benny Steveninck from East Flanders. They were highly successful with Grandson Pepchi (national winner of Chateauroux of 2,780 pigeons and a 1st Provincial Montluçon of 3,700 pigeons) and the team now wins a 1st Zone Gueret with another grandson: Brother Pepchi BE16-4024909.

Bert Vanden Berghe wants his pigeons to be in top form for Agen every season. Due to the difficult weather conditions he was initially planning to basket just one team of one year old cocks. "But they were looking good, so I basketed a second team as well", Bert says smiling. And the results are in: a 2nd national yearlings, three top 50 prizes and almost 5 top 100 prizes.

(29/06/2018) “Mr Supreme” Mark Gilbert (Windsor, UK) wins 1st National Pau

Once again Mark Gilbert shows us how it’s done by timing a bird to win 1st National Pau, in the first of the International events in the UK. Clearly, Mark Gilberts gallant bird was one of less than a handful of birds that it could be said to have made it to the UK coast by nightfall, and then had to rise and shine the next day to achieve their results.
