A report on the British International Championship Club race from Wadebridge on 15th May 2021

Rosie - the race winner
214 members sent 2,165 pigeons to Wadebridge with the British International Championship Club. They were liberated at 12.15CEST into a west, south-west wind. The following is a report on the provisional result based on members' verifications.
Simon Ferguson

First open and first centre section was won by Simon Ferguson of Brighton with a two year old hen named Rosie on 1744mpm over 211 miles. The sire of Simon's winner is a son of King James, bred by Ali McCloud and containing Koen Minderhoud x Vandenabeele bloodlines. The dam is a grand-daughter of Jan Hooymans Harry x Rudy Vandenabeele, also bred by Ali McCloud. It was raced on the roundabout system. 

Peter English

Peter English of Portslade clocked a two year old on 1726mpm over 206 miles to take second open and second centre section. Peter clocked a blue, white flight hen, raced on the roundabout system and whose sire was bought at Lier market. The dam contains Eric Cuelerman bloodlines from his good friend Shane Betts. 

L & K Norris

L and K Norris of Brighton were third open and third centre section with a four year old on 1719mpm over a distance of 210 miles. The partners had two drop together and first to trap was a mealy Staf Van Reet cock that has had plenty of second places but never won a race. Second to time was another Staf Van Reet, the bloodlines that form the base of their family of pigeons. 

Pete Foster of Shoreham by Sea was fourth open and fourth centre section with a three year old on 1716mpm over 204 miles. 

Mia Hoddinott

Young fancier Mia Hoddinott of Dorchester timed a yearling on 1710mpm over 114 miles to take fifth open and first west section. Mia's winner was a pigeon that won and RPRA award for her last season. It was bred from stock she obtained from Peter Fox of Syndicate Lofts. This was Mia's first race to her new loft after moving house last October. 

Sixth open and fifth centre section was a yearling on 1709mpm over 211 miles for D and J Novis of Brighton. 

K and J Zerafa of Portsmouth were seventh open and sixth centre section with a two year old on 1704mpm over a distance of 211 miles. 

Tom Powers of Lovedean timed a three year old on 1697mpm over 171 miles to take eighth open and seventh centre section. 

Mr and Mrs Bunney of Portsmouth were ninth open and eighth centre section with a two year old on 1694mpm over 167 miles. 

Completing the top ten and in ninth centre section is Harry Butcher from Portsmouth. Harry timed a three year old on 1662mpm over a distance of 168 miles. 

Around the sections

Colin Draper's winner

C Draper of Yalding was first east section, seventeenth open with a two year old on 1599mpm over 237 miles. Colin clocked a blue hen, racing to eggs and sitting tight when she was basketed. 

L & K Buddle

Lee and Kevin Buddle of Dover timed a yearling on 1556mpm over 273 miles to take second east section. The Buddle's cock was flown on their version of the widowhood system. The sire is a son of Tom and Elsa, whilst the dam was bred by Tumley Lofts and is a grand-daughter of Mark Bulled's Legacy. 

Sparks and Dallas of Gravesend were third east section with a three year old on 1485mpm over 238 miles. Tom and Pauline timed a dark chequer cock, the sire of which came from Fagg and Nicholas and the dam came from their Frans Zwol family, obtained from John Gruag. 

John Halstead

John Halstead of Kington Magna clocked a three year old on 1630mpm over 115 miles to take second west section. John's winner contains the best of his Barcelona bloodlines including Ashley and Untouchable. It also contains the Harkness bloodlines through a bird loaned from Cyril Beattie of Northern Ireland. 

Stephen Moseley

Stephen Moseley of Bishopsworth was third west section with a two year old on 1556mpm over 117 miles. The sire of Stephen's blue cock was Frans Zwols World Amish, whilst the dam came from Les Nicholas' Garrick family of pigeons. 

R and G Jones and Batt of Rugeley were first north-centre section, eighty-second open with a four year old on 1390mpm over a distance of 200 miles. The section winner was bred by Price Brothers out of their Syndicate Lofts family of pigeons. The partners timed another bird just six minutes later. 

Phil Lane

P Lane and Son of Wootton timed a yearling on 1348mpm over 218 miles to take second north-centre section. Phil timed a blue hen containing Frans Zwol bloodlines and on its third race of the season. He had twelve out of thirteen hens sent, home on the day. 

Richard Chambers

Richard Chambers of Rugeley was third north-centre section with a yearling on 1342mpm over 201 miles. Richard timed a grandson of S McDonough's Rollercoaster and 117 Hen, both of the parents were bought from the McDonough sale on PIPA last season. It was not raced as a youngster due to injury. 

Roly Rix

The north-east section winner which was also one hundred and twenty-ninth open was a two year old on 1285mpm over 258 miles for R Rix of Newmarket. Roly timed a chequer pied hen named Dazzle and containing Linde-du-Puy Janssen bloodlines.  

Steve Surrey

Steve Surrey of Wisbech was second north-east section with a two year old on 1269mpm over 264 miles. Steves blue chequer hen contains De Klak x Ceuster bloodlines and has previously won the federation. 

L Rix and Son of Mildenhall were third north-east section with a yearling on 1261mpm over 267 miles. Len timed a hen bred down from Osman Baker bloodlines and on its first race of the season. 

Chambers Family

The Chambers family of Cannock timed a two year old on 1468mpm over 195 miles to take first north-west section and fifty-fourth open. The section winner was a Gaby Vandenebeele hen that was purchased as a young bird from Dave Vaughan of Telford. It is a grand-daughter of M and D Evans' Champion Shadow. 

Stokes & Smith pigeon

Stokes and Smith of Stoke on Trent were second north-west section with a yearling on 1324mpm over a distance of 209 miles. Paul and Martin timed a blue hen containing Alen Jones' Vandenabeele bloodlines on the sire's side and Van den Bulck Goede Rode on the dam's. 

Booth & Roper's pigeon

Booth and Roper of Tewkesbury were third north-west section with a three year old on 1309mpm over 156 miles. The partners timed a consistent black hen raced on the widowhood system.
