André Roodhooft (Pulderbos, BE): 1st Nat. La Souterraine - 9,469 olds & 9 x top 100!

The king of Antwerp strikes again, this time from the national release site in La Souterraine. He not only claimed the national first prize old birds, André also had as many as 9 pigeons in the national top 100. This is quite an impressive result for the team from Pulderbos!

We can always expect exceptional results when writing about André Roodhooft and his - no doubt about that - team of champions. We talked about racing bird 276 (BE18-6230276) just two weeks ago; this pigeon already has four national top 100 places to his name in the national longer middle distance in two years' time, having won a 7th-10th-23rd-85th-...

But today's article is about their exceptional result in last weekend's La Souterraine. André had basketed 17 old birds and 23 yearlings, and as many as 9 of them finished in the national top 100! The results are nothing short of impressive:

  • 9,469 old birds: 1st-10th-27th-28th-58th-76th-174th-272nd-299th-341st-364th-539th-585th-823rd-... (16/17), including 6 pigeons per 100 and 14 pigeons per 10!
  • 15,939 yearlings: 17th-95th-100th-407th-554th-605th-692nd-782nd-885th-920th-926th-1185th-1321st-1378th-... (20/23), with 3 pigeons per 100 and 14 pigeons per 10.

They had as many as 28 pigeons with a national prize per ten on 40 basketed birds. Dazzling numbers.

Besides, racing bird 276 finished in 585th place national of 9,469 pigeons, claiming yet another excellent result per 10.

André Roodhooft in his lofts, holding his national winner New Tom

André Roodhooft is really having a great season, winning national top results one after another. We were occasionally lost for words when trying to describe his achievements, especially last weekend. And we have been equally impressed with the legacy of his already legendary breeding bird Tom, whose bloodline can be found in 8 of the 9 top 100 finishers in La Souterraine. This is clearly an exceptional strain. It goes without saying that André's season is already a great success across the board, and that after just a few weeks of racing.
