The 'Gebroeders Janssen' of the 21st century
Loft Cor LEIJTENS, Oostelbeers (NL)
Last year we left for Oostelbeers to visit the 'brothers' Leijtens for an extensive report over their sensational exploits during the previous season (you can read about them under 'All articles' here on PiPa). It didn't take long before there was a sequel to this success story, because 'Cor Leijtens' the banner under which the Leijtens brothers participate in the races, and whereby Cor and Har are the real fanciers managed once again in 2007 to add a cartload of prizes to their name, including the title 'Best Cock from the Netherlands WHZB' which once again put their colony in the international spotlight! Enough food for a new visit, on a stormy and 'winter feeling' day just before Easter, to the Leijtens-brothers. We previously described the loft 'Cor Leijtens' as the 'Gebroeders Janssen' of the 21st century. Not only because of the identical family situation and so the perfect conformity with the famous brothers from the Belgian Arendonk but also because in Oostelbeers they shine in the Sprint and Short middle distances even up until the Middle distance. Even though it is difficult to compare performances from 30 or 40 years ago to the performances in 2007 mainly because of the changes in the pigeon sport, the competition is larger and tougher, the more professional approach we can still say that the performances of Cor Leijtens now, are more impressive more so, because they seem to 'excel' in national ace pigeons, something that they never managed in Arendonk.
After the Cor Leijtens household had already won National Ace pigeons with LAMMERT (1° Netherlands Olympiad pigeon Sprint S.A. 2001), PENTIUM (also known as "2° WC" as 2° World champion Long Distance) and BENICIA (1° Nat Pigeon champion Short Middle distance 2005)
next to multiple honours places
they now have, with the "907 from Amore's Dirk" once again a national topper in the lofts, who has in the meantime strengthened the breeding team!

The colony of Cor Leijtens has once again had a top season, because the descendants of their old strain, built up with pigeons from Jos Van Limpt (alias the 'Klak') from Reusel, say the pure 'Janssen-Arendonk'-pigeons
cross-bred with pigeons that had later been bought from Ad Schaerlaeckens, Flor Engels & Zonen, Gerard Koopman, Co Verbree, Gerard & Bas Verkerk proved very successful for the races, and resulted in top performances and chain results which hardly anyone had ever achieved, let alone improved on. It is not only a sign that Cor & Har are excellent fanciers, but they know the art of breeding 'Ace pigeons' and 'Crack pigeons' year after year
and how to maintain their pigeon pedigree at an elevated level. For information about coaching, care and racing method

Today we will limit ourselves to the highlights from 2007, where they not only achieved the title "Best Cock of the Netherlands WHZB", but also the title of "Super champions C.C. MIDEBO" which was achieved in all the 45 races that were raced in 2007, and this with the 1-2-3-4° first nominated pigeons! The Cor Leijtens pigeons can't be competed with at the moment, 'pigeons from another world' as they are sometimes called in 'workman's jargon' we will leave all the superlatives and expressions to the judgement of the reader. One thing that we dare to say is that we don't know many fanciers who can show us results from such 'overwhelming performances' from 2007 that match the honours list of Cor & Har Leijtens judge for yourself:

We also have to mention the 6° place that a Cor Leijtens-pigeon achieved in the 'One Loft race in Shangai', better known as "The Million Euro Race" a top performance that brought the 'Leijtens-brothers' new international fame. In short, a series of titles and Ace pigeons which demonstrate that the old pigeons in the lofts 'Cor Leijtens' once again 'went to town' in 2007, pigeons that are there from the first to the last race, from Sprint to One day Long distance real super pigeons. Allow us to demonstrate using the performances of the 5 toppers in the 'Ace pigeon championships' old pigeons, that at the end of the ride were flagged as 1-3-5-6-7° Ace pigeons in the strong C.C. Midebo.

These 6 Ace pigeons are without any doubt the current flag holders of the colony one for one real crack pigeons. Let it be clear one of the factors by the ultimate selection in the Cor Leijtens household is the number of points that a pigeon has managed to collect at the end of the season so what the pigeon earned in total from all the races together. If you then win the 1-3-5-6-7° Ace pigeon 2007 from the whole competition C.C. Midebo, in addition to the title of "Super champion", so as Cor demonstrated last season then you can say without shame that you belong to the circle of 'top lofts' in the Netherlands from Sprint to one-day Long Distance!
Years of success
That the Leijtens brothers can be as proud as 'a boy that proudly walks round in his 1st communion suit' (even though they are long past this stage) at what they have managed to achieve in the pigeon sport over the years, with multiple National Ace pigeons, prominent titles and a cartload of victories to their name
doesn't require any further explanation. Their dominating pigeon game with which they won multiple 'Ace pigeons', and that is based on a special 'origin rich breeding-well'
is proof of extraordinary 'World-class' ! It won't surprise anyone that in the near future more 'rich apples' will fall in the luxurious orchard in Oostelbeers!
