A brief introduction
Team Beeckmans-Huygh consists of Geert Beeckmans (45) and Ronny Huygh (55). Geert started racing pigeons again in 2010 after a seven year hiatus. He bought a third and fourth round of youngsters from top player Wim Moens from Aspelare. His results with the third round were great, while the other round went to the breeding loft. The sixteen one year old cocks that made it through the selection process performed quite well the following season, winning a few first prizes and top results. The youngsters bred from Wim's fourth round did a great job as well.
In 2012 Ronny offered a helping hand in the loft a few times, and that was the start of the Beeckmans-Huygh combination. Their first races were quite a success, and the team continued to deliver excellent results week after week. The best pigeons of that first season were Dezes and Devier, which won several first prizes. In fact, Dezes continued to race throughout the season and he never missed a single prize, winning a prize per 3 in every single race.
In 2014 Ronny and Geert basketed a few of their pigeons for the longer middle distance, and they showed more than capable. Their racing hen Twiejke won a first prize of 2,553 pigeons from Souppes-sur-Loing, as well as an impressive first prize from Argenton in the club against 130 yearlings. This was the start of their longer middle distance career.
The two fanciers wanted to keep improving and so they invested in one of the world's best pigeon breeds: Gaby Vandenabeele. These pigeons were successfully merged into Geert and Ronny's existing team, as descendant Yella went on to win a 1st Provincial Chateauroux of 1,742 pigeons.

The star of this fairly young team of Beeckman-Huygh is without doubt Yella. She won a 1st Provincial Châteauroux of 1,742 yearlings in 2017.
Yella is a daughter of Twiejke, the first hen to compete in the longer middle distance, after she won a first prize from Souppes-sur-Loing and Argenton. Twiejke is a 100% Wim Moens from Wim, the sire and grandfather of more than ten first prize winners bred from the line of Wim Moens's Provinciaal.

A bright future
What makes pigeon racing so interesting is the fact that the household names, which are able to excel in the national and provincial races season after season, have to face competition with some talented newcomers and promising new players every season. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that each of these newcomers can eventually develop into great champions as well, capable of winning the most prestigious races. And what makes this sport all the more appealing, is the fact that anyone can achieve a great results, provided you have some experience, motivation and first of all a collection of talented pigeons. And achieving one great result is not the same as winning top results on a consistent basis. The Beeckman-Huygh combination has everything it takes to make it in our sport; their recent list of achievements says it all. We think their provincial first prize from Châteauroux will be just one of many highlights, we are eager to see how the 2018 season will pan out for them.
