Hok Reijnen-Bolton (Alphen, NL) has been a top contender in one loft racing for years

The loft of Reijnen-Bolton is a big name in international one loft racing. They were able to win a podium spot in the ace pigeon ranking of five different one loft races over the past three seasons.

Team Reijnen-Bolton

How it all started

Father Marinus Reijnen started keeping pigeons in the 1960s, and his son Erik got involved in the sport as well in 1976, as a 13 year old. Father and son quickly agreed to start racing in a combination, as M. Reijnen & Son. In 2005, one year after Erik's father Marinus died, Erik founded his own loft, which was called Hok M Reijnen. He switched to a new name in 2016, now racing as "Hok Reijnen-Bolton".

A superstar in one loft racing

Hok Reijnen-Bolton has been one of the lofts to beat in one loft races across Europe. He has quite a number of top prizes to his name, and he was particularly successful in the Algarve Great Derby in recent years, especially in 2016: he won the final race from Braganca (505km) as well as a 1st prize in the ace pigeon championship across all races that season. The ace pigeon championship was won by NL16-1870003; the race from Bragance was won by NL15-1782048. Click here for the pedigree of the winner.

1st pigeon in the final race in Portugal 2016

The team had a very successful race in Portugal again in 2017, winning a 2nd ace pigeon title across all races with NL17-3714019. The dam of this pigeon was a full sister of the sire of the winner in 2016. Apparently, the pigeons of Erik Rijen feel very at home in Portugal. And they have been doing quite well in other European one loft races as well. The following is an overview of their best results over the past four years, just to give you an idea of their level of performance.

Founded on som excellent breeders

If you want to compete in such a high number of races, racing with two teams from two different locations, you need to be able to rely on a solid team of breeding birds. And Erik has clearly taken care of that. Here are his most prominent stock breeders:
Picasso Pair: NL03-0330524 Koch X Zoontjes X NL08-1964894 Arie Dijkstra
NL05-0567327 “Son generaal” Johan & Ronny van Belzen (Arnemuiden)
NL05-0566180 “Oude basic Breeder”
NL10-1029918 “Sweet Tinkelbel” Arie Dijkstra
He also uses a number of pigeons of Wout Spierings, including NL07-3762834 “Mr. Arlon”, stock sire of the Zagato family. He is the sire of NL11-3021704 “Zagato”, NL11-1830363 “Brother Zagato” and NL12-3217409 “Sister Zagato”.
Youngsters of NL98-1465525 “De Remie” (renamed “The Natural” by Mike Ganus later on), including: NL04-1007095 “Golden Jewel”, NL04-1007096 “Bomber Bull”, NL05-2187924 “Remie Bolleke”, NL06-0752189 “Remie Junior”, NL07-3762878 “White Creator”.
Youngsters of NL01-0182011 “De Strakke” (renamed “The Creator” by Mike Ganus), including: NL03-2315933 “Strakke 265”, NL04-1007082 “Beauty Creator”, NL04-1007099 “Schallie Creator” , NL04-1007084 “Mr.Diamond Ring” (Brother of “Leontien”, later called “Diamond Ring”).
Different pigenos of Verschuren-Hessels and Wil van Wanrooy, including: youngsters of NL99-1112899 “Oude Bonte”, NL01-2099034 “Late vd Oude Bonte” and NL10-2065207 “Son Oude Bonte”
Also included in this team are the old breed of Peer van Gompel & Janssen pigeons via frank Aarts and Jos & Joost Leuris and Louis van Loon soort via Staf Theeuwes and Frank Aarts.
A few champions of Rik Wouters (Viper family, Jan Straver, Wil Van Wanrooy, Cees Van Bijsterveldt (Carolus family), Frank van Huygevoort (Brom family), Joost Smeekens, and Jacques Planckaert (Reynaert Figo). The team's latest investment was a group of pigeons of Willie Daniels. As you can tell, the team invests regularly in order to create the strongest pigeon breed possible. This strategy has proven to be quite successful indeed.

A good example would be NL11-3021738, Chateauroux Queen. This great looking racing hen was able to win a 1st NPO Chateauroux of 8,202 pigeons. She is a sister of Witpen Thai, winner of a 1st International Pigeon Pigeon final TGPR 2010. The NL17-1349371, a daughter of Chaterouroux Queen, has won a 15th prize in the final of the Algarve Great Derby in 2017.

Chateauroux Queen

Highly motivated

Hok Reijnen-Bolton could be a described as a highly motivated combination with a fantastic group of pigons that delivers under all circumstances. We are quite confident that they will continue to get great results in future one loft races as well.
