Having barely processed the fantastic result on Limoges (2nd July), the race on which Karlo's racers won 1st Zonal but also 3rd National and no less than 9 pigeons within the National Top 100. Clearly the pigeons were in super condition.
Could it get any better? Yes....the same team was basketed for the National long distance race from Aurillac, and blew away the competition in a seldom seen display of dominance. The competition had no answer. Pigeon sport at the highest level. Karlo clocked 6 pigeons within the National Top 10, 12 pigeons within the National Top 100 and the cherry on top was winning 1st and 2nd National old birds. A phenomenal result.

In 2023 he continued where he left off last season. After having won 63rd National Limoges two weeks ago, he now went a step further...and won National gold! The sixth crack to arrive and take a National Top 10 spot on Aurillac is another granddaughter of the golden Porsche Pair of the PEC. Without doubt one of the best - if not the best - breeding pairs in the world of modern pigeon sport. This hen is a cross between the Porsche bloodlines and the Barcelona blood of New Laureaat and Kleine Jade.

A list of new top references for the PEC
This unbelievable result and seldom seen display of dominance from Karlo Van Rompaey on Aurillac, also means a new list of super referenes for the PEC of Nikolaas Gyselbrecht, where all these national cracks were bred. Although this isn't all, several other fanciers also delivered sublime performances on Aurillac with the same golden PEC bloodlines. Amongst them were:
- 5th Nat Aurillac 6,512 YL at Stephen Reynaerts (Velm), with the same pigeon who won 26th Nat. Limoges 8,970 YL two weeks ago. This long distance crack is a doulbe grandchild of star breeder Prince Porsche.
- 6th Nat Aurillac 6,512 YL at Willy Vos (Tielt) was bred from 2 PEC pigeons.
- 10th Nat Aurillac 6,512 YL at Ronald Lodewijckx (Tielt) is a Grandchild Remco, and thereby also bred from a PEC pigeon.
Despite those super results, fact is that winning is reserved exclusively for the best cracks and champions. A result in line with that of Jonas Vingegaard a couple of days ago in the Tour, the pigeons of Karlo were truly dominant on Aurillac. On a different level than the competition. The main role went to the renowned fancier Karlo Van Rompaey, who managed a performance which will be tough to beat. A deserved victory, a huge congratulations!
