Gerard & Harold Calis (Bussum, NL) stand in the spotlights with several ace pigeon and championship titles on the provincial and national level

Without any form of exaggeration, we can state that father (Gerard) and son (Harold) Calis belong to the best fanciers of The Netherlands in the past years. They know the shortest route to success is through super pigeons, and they have therefore invested in pigeons from Marcel Sangers, in addition to a/o Leideman, Vredeveld and Koopman. Read everything about their stock build-up in this article. This strategy has paid off for this combination, and they are regulars at the top of the results list in large races. NL21-1058365, Marijke, 11th National Ace Pigeon Yearlings '22 ('De Allerbeste')

Marijke is a son of NL20-628, who in turn is a son of the world-famous Prince Esmee (TJ & J Elzinga, Harkema, NL). Mother of Marijke is Iris and she is a daughter of the super pair New Branco x Fantastic Red. As a yearling, Marijke flew the following results:

NL20-1355521 Marnix, 1st Ace Pigeon Long Distance Afd. 7 (N) '22

Marnix especially stood out on long distance races. His father is Potential, a grandson of the Nr.1 breeder, Red Baron. Mother is Cinderella and is a daughter to the super hen Kira. Besides mother of Marnix, Cinderella is also mother of a/o Young Baron. Several of Marnix his magnificent results include:

Another promising yearling is Red Iris, who also achieved several top results last season. Mother of Red Iris is, Iris, the same mother as Marijke (11th Nat. Ace Pigeon YL) mentioned above. Father is Red Bulck and he is a full brother to Vale Bulck. Several of Red Iris her best prizes are:

NL21-1058309, 1st Ace Pigeon Speed Afdeling 7 '22

An absolute star of the past racing season is the hen NL21-1058309. She won a staggering 17 prizes last season which led to the following ace pigeon titles:

The NL21-309 is a daughter of The Indian x Lucky Leideman and thereby a granddaughter of the super pair Staron x Golden Lucky. 

Staron has proven on several occasions to be an excellent breeder. He is a/o father of Super Nova, Thomas and New Jet (NL19-1519934).

We already mentioned that he Sangers pigeons play an important role in the current stock of Gerard and Harold. The combination houses a phenomenal breeder with a daughter (Cinderella) of super hen Kira (Marcel Sangers x Dirk van den Bulck). Cinderella is a/o mother of the above mentioned Marnix NL20-1355521 (1st Ace Pigeon Long Distance Afd. 7 N '22) and of Young Baron (NL20-1355561).

Young Baron, son of Cinderella was a super yearling. He won a/o:

When Kira was sold at the total auction of Marcel Sangers, Harold was first in line to purchase this pigeon. Kira is a daughter of Super Red x Angelina and thereby a full sister of 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB '13, Kittel.

Besides Young Baron, Cinderella and Kira, we find that Angelina (mother of Kira) is also important to the foundation of the current stock. Angelina is mother of Vale Bulck, who in turn is mother of Bond Girl (NL19-1520007). Father of Bond Girl is Son Super Pair. 

Top results on other lofts 

Besides the fact that Gerard and Harold may be proud of their own performances, they enjoy the results by on other lofts achieved with their pigeons. Below are several examples of their fantastic references: 

• Comb. PZB (Amersfoort):this combination houses a sister of the super hen De Rode Chateauroux. They bred several top pigeons from this hen, such as De Vechter (1st NPO Chateaudun) and the NL18-1732147. In 2020, this hen became the best long distance pigeon in Afdeling 7 and later also 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance across 3 years (Fondspiegel). This pigeon has recently also become grandmother of the 1st National Ace Pigeon Long Distance (NPO) 2022. 

• Roy Vos (Almere): for some years the results from this loft were lacking. Roy wanted to change this and sought help from Gerard and Harold. Together, they came up with a 5 year plan and currently 90% of his colony is built up from Calis pigeons. Last year, the results were very good. So good in fact that from 24 old bird races, he won 12x 1st Prize at his club and even took 1st and 2nd on several occasions. On the middle distance races he became 1x 1st Grandmaster and on 4 long distance races he managed to become 2nd Grandmaster twice in Afdeling 7. At his club, he had the 1st Ace Pigeon Late tour, 1st Ace Pigeon Speed and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd General Ace Pigeons. 

• Robin Rigter (Eemnes): Robin is a good friend and can almost be called the satellite loft of G&H Calis (more than 90% of all the pigeons descend from Calis). With Chuck (grandson New Branco x Fantastic Red) Robin houses an absolute crack. The performances of Chuck, 1st Prizes and several championships titles won can be found below:
