He was still very young when he won the title of German national champion – an impressive feat. He started keeping pigeons at the age of thirteen. He took the national title in 1992, at the age of sixteen, making him the youngest national champion in Germany ever. Keep in mind that this was not a title in the youth series; he actually managed to beat the very best pigeon fanciers in Germany. He took the championship title with 40 prizes and 7,789.29 points, while also finishing in fourth in the national long distance championship. The Krüger pigeon loft has continued to perform at this level since his first title twenty years ago. He has won countless championships and important prizes in those twenty years. Hardy Krüger has become a household name in pigeon racing in Germany. He is still fairly young but he is definitely someone to look up to.
Hardy Krüger plays under the name of Hardy and Bruno Krüger, with Bruno being Hardy’s father. Due to Bruno’s illness this is not really a combination anymore, and Hardy himself obviously combines his hobby with a fulltime job. He is an electronic technician, which is quite a demanding job. He gets nothing for free. As a result, he does not train his pigeons in between the races due to time restraints. This makes him a true amateur, especially compared to the many retired fanciers, who can keep pigeons as if they were professionals.
Hardy Krüger claimed the title of First champion in the region in Union Mittelerft in 2013, as well as the title of 21st German champion. Hardy Krüger was also named Superstar of the year in the long distance in the Goldene Taube competition of the “De Duif” magazine in July. These are quite impressive titles.

A sensational race
As you know, the national race from Poitiers, the final national flight of the season, took place on 29th July 2013. It was a field day for Hardy Krüger. 5,426 pigeons from 404 different fanciers had been basketed for Poitiers and they were released at 7 AM on a sunny morning with few clouds and a southwest wind. The pigeons had the same weather conditions along the entire route. These were excellent flight conditions, making for a trouble free race. Top prizes were won in every region, except for the first three prizes, which were impressively won by Hardy Krüger and his father. Three pigeons arrived home simultaneously after completing 678.501 km. The Krüger family saw their first pigeon Balisto land at 13:39‘58“, followed by Daylight at 13:39‘59“, and Bastian at 13:40‘01“. They were the first three from a total of 5,426 pigeons, which is a marvellous result and quite exceptional for a national race. Their first pigeon completed the race with a velocity of 1,696.394 m/min.
The other Krüger pigeons arrived at 13:51 (68th nat. prize), 13:51 (83rd prize), 13:52 (116th prize), 13:53 (147th prize), 13:57 (377th prize), 13:58 (409th prize), 13:58 (431st prize) and 13:58 (432nd prize). These are the prizes won with the first ten pigeons; the Krüger family takes 14 prizes with a team of 18 pigeons, an excellent result.
The loft of a great champion
It takes great skills and of course a team of highly talented pigeons to be able to perform at such a high level for an extended period of time. Hardy Krüger has both: he is a highly proficient fancier with a collection of outstanding pigeons. He leaves nothing to chance, using nothing but top quality birds for his breed. He is always looking for ways to improve his existing pigeon family, which consists of invaluable breeders. Carl Lewis has been the stock sire of this loft for many years. He was born in 1990 and won the title of third Ace Cock Germany 1992. His name can be found in the pedigrees of many of today’s best racing pigeons. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most successful racing birds of today.
Balisto 07274-12-947 took the national win from Poitiers and he won 11 prizes in 13 races in 2013. His sire is Bailey 07274-07-710, Olympiad Cock in Posen in the long distance category. The dam of Balisto is Letizia 07274-09-2079, an extraordinary breeding hen.
In his auction, Hardy Krüger brings us the very pigeons from his collection. Two of them were bred from the outstanding breeder Orlando 07274-03-371, winner of 11 prizes as a yearling and co-winner of the title of yearlings’ champion in the region. Orlando is also a grandchild of Carl Lewis, which we mentioned earlier. Orlando was paired to Angie 04667-08-1341, a 100% Günter Prange hen from his best bloodlines.
Another interesting pigeon is a son of Black Pearl 07274-08-879, Olympiad Cock Category H in Posen 2011 and winner of a first prize in the Europe Cup Middle Distance. Black Pearl was paired to Maike 07274-07-1092. Both Black Pearl and Maike were bred from Black Power 07274-00-1245, winner of a 4th Ace Pigeon in the regional races against 40,000 pigeons.
In this auction we also have a hen bred from Di Caprio 07274-05-1026, which is also a grandchild of the outstanding breeder Carl Lewis. Di Caprio was paired to Daria 07274-11-410, which in turn was bred from Da Vinci, one of Krüger’s best breeders.
This brings us to Da Vinci, a superb breeder. He is also the sire of Hannibal 07274-08-803, which won an impressive 12 top prizes in 2010. Da Vinci was paired to a hen of Koopman from his best bloodlines, bred from a son of Branco x a daughter of Zitter. Also included in this auction is a son of Hannibal. Another successful youngster of Da Vinci and the Koopman hen is Leonardo 07274-08-804, winner of many top prizes. Leonardo was paired to his half sister Selina 07274-11-535, which is also a daughter of Da Vinci. This combination bred a cock that is also offered for sale. Hardy Krüger also offers a son from Black Sky 07274-10-1027, as well as a son from Black Power and a son of Highlander (paired to Letizia). This basically means that all successful bloodlines of Hardy Krüger have been included in this auction.
