Franz Wilhelm Gonschior (Wenden, DE) at the top for over 30 years

He is a true icon in pigeon racing in Germany. This season he is once again one of the main candidates for winning all the championships to be awarded. He knows everything about breeding and he is a true fancier; one of the very best in Germany.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that fancier Franz Wilhelm Gonschior has been at the top of pigeon racing for more than 30 years. Over the years his family of pigeons has been performing exceptionally well. It seems his stock improves even more through the years, just like wine. It is amazing to see the same pigeons win top prizes year after year, not only at club level but also at regional level. Some of his best pigeons are for instance the 573, the 22, the 536 and so on and so on. The 573 has the chance to complete a memorable double: he might be declared best pigeon of the club 2012, just like last year.

Do you know any fancier who can win more than 400 prizes with his five best pigeons? Or a fancier who has been successful with one and the same family of pigeons for more than ten generations?

At the moment the racing pigeons of Franz Wilhelm are doing very well at national level as well. Shortly before the end of the season he is ranked 8th in the middle distance races in Germany and he is 34th in the long distance. He is 24th in the yearlings’ category and he is the 7th best loft in Germany, against about 20,000 other German lofts. The results at regional level are even more astonishing: at the moment Franz Wilhelm is ranked first in every discipline: he has the best loft and he is first in the middle distance, long distance, yearlings, ace pigeon hens and ace pigeon cocks.

Just to give you an impression of the achievements of this loft we give you the results of the club races of the 2012 season so far. The number of pigeons at the top of the table is unseen. Week after week more than a third of the pigeons manage to finish per ten:

Franz Wilhelm Gonschior does not only have a very good racing team. We should not forget that he is also very good at breeding pigeons. With an eye for detail and with a lot of patience he has created his own stock, with birds that are capable of finishing races at the age of 9 and winning prizes as well. The talent to win first prizes is passed from generation to generation. Franz Wilhelm would say: keep in mind that if you pair two pigeons you determine the life of a new generation. New youngsters are the building blocks of your family of pigeons on the road to success.
