Karlo Van Rompaey (Sint-Truiden, BE) performs just as good as the weather

It looks like the racing birds of Karlo Van Rompaey have been enjoying the good weather just as much as we do: they have been breaking records on a regular basis, and hardly a week goes by without the Van Rompaey team claiming a first prize.

Karlo Van Rompaey came into prominence in 2015 when he won a national first prize from Bourges against 18,864 old birds with Prima Donna, which was followed by a second national victory from Bourges, this time against 14,449 yearlings (with racing bird Hattrick). Karlo has been particularly tough to beat this season, often winning four, five or six top 10 prizes in a single race. At one time he even managed to win 9 prizes in the top 10. We included some of his most impressive results of this season, and we will be discussing some of his most successful racing birds as well.

The dam of the 471/15 is a daughter of Golden 389 (BE10-5110389), which is in turn a grandson of Golden Ace, winner of a 1st/7,789 pigeons. Click here for the full pedigree of the 471/15.

First prize winner BE16-2206070 is yet another top class racing bird that stems from the collaboration between Karlo and the then renowned Verreckt-Ariën combination from Limburg. In 2010 the two top lofts exchanged a round of young birds; five years later Karlo has won two consecutive national first prizes and many top prizes across all disciplines.

The 070/16 originates from the line of Jos from his father's side, and Jos is Karlo's stock breeder and winner of a 1st Nat. Bourges 2005. This racing bird is also related to Eduardo (BE07-5035394) from his mother's side. Eduardo is not just any breeding cock, he is in fact the grandfather of Prima Donna (BE13-5008346), which won a 1st Nat. Bourges against 18,864 pigeons. Click here for the full pedigree of the 070/16. That same Eduardo can also be found in the pedigree of the BE15-2175629, which won a 62nd Nat. Tulle. Her grandfather from her mother's side happens to be the sire of a 1st Prov. Tulle against 844 pigeons. It's all in the family. You can find the full pedigree of the 629/15 here.

The youngsters of breeding bird Jos are particularly suited for pairings, as was demonstrated by BE16-2206101, winner of a first prize from Vervins. This pigeon does not come from the trusted combination of Verreckt-Ariën x Van Rompaey but rather from a joint breeding with Vanhoudt-Serre (Webbekom, BE). This team has excelled mostly with descendants of the legendary Kaasboer of Gaston Van de Wouwer. The dam of the 101/16 is Souringo (BE13- 5008133), winner of a 1st Sourdun 1,199 p. and a granddaughter of stock breeder Jos. The 101-16 is also related to Lang Lowet (BE97-6499255) from its mother's side, which is another important Verreckt-Ariën bloodline. Click here for the pedigree of the 101/16.

Another pigeon that deserves a special mention is BE16-2206120. She is a granddaughter of Lange Leon (BE11-5035753) x Crême au Beurre (BE09-5000270) and of Rossen 32 (BE10-5025032) x Mieke Dikke (BE10-5110400), and she managed to win a 1st Sezanne, a 1st Chimay and a 3rd Sezanne in just eight days' time. Make sure to take a closer look at the impressive pedigree of the 120/16.

Crescendo

According to the latest predictions temperatures will be on the rise in the coming few days. We wonder if the racing team of Van Rompay will be able to to shine once again this weekend. Only time will tell.
