Jespers-Vanderwegen (Holsbeek, BE) claim first and third national from La Souterraine yearlings

Herman Jespers and Johnny Vanderwegen had won several podium places in national races over the past few seasons, before finally taking a national win from La Souterraine last weekend. Their pigeon Nadetta claimed the win against 9,815 yearlings, as the fastest of a total of 16,44 pigeons.

Herman and Johnny Jespers-Vanderwegen once again managed to achieve an impressive overall result in the national race from La Souterraine. Their hen Nadetta BE13-2006488 was the fastest of all pigeons basketed for the race, and Ramona BE13-2006491 was able to claim a third national against 9,815 yearlings, which gave the fanciers from Holsbeek in Flemish Brabant plenty to celebrate. They had been close to a national win several times: they had made it onto the podium five times, while finishing in the national top 10 on 12 occasions, before eventually claiming a national victory last weekend!

Kleine Dirk

The number one stock breeder of Jespers-Vanderwegen is Kleine Dirk BE03-6086339, a direct Dirk Van Dyck from the bloodline of Kannibaal. This breeder had a share in last weekend's national win as well, because the national winner and the 3rd national are both grandchildren of Kleine Dirk. This pigeon has bred an impressive number of top class pigeons, which makes him quite an exceptional breeder. He is the sire, grandfather and great-grandfather of no less than 70 national top 100 prize winners! He was often paired to Fleur E05-2266436, which was obtained from Ad Schaerlaeckens as an egg, being a granddaughter of Ad's Ace Four. Nadetta, 1st National La Souterraine

Nadetta's national win was not her first important achievement; she had won quite a few top prizes already:

Nadetta, a wonderful looking hen

Jespers-Vanderwegen decided to strengthen their breed with pigeons of Gaby Vandenabeele, and the crossing of this Vandenabeele line with their existing bloodline of Kleine Dirk proved a great combination. Nadetta and Ramona are a perfect example. The sire of Nadetta is Nero, a direct Vandenabeele bred from the lines of Bliksem, Tieke (Luc De Laere), and Zorro (Norman). The dam of Nadetta is Belle Fleur, a daughter of top pair Kleine Dirk x Fleur. Belle Fleur is a full sister of a a few great champions, including F-16 (best young bird of Belgium over three national races with an amazing 0.20 coefficient in 2008), Nathalia, Lady Fleur, etc. You can find the pedigree of Nadatta, 1st Nat La Souterraine here.

Ramona, 3rd National La Souterraine

Ramona had showed to be quite a talented hen earlier on as well:

La Souterraine Nat. 3/9,815
               Prov. 2/942

Guéret I '14 Nat. 83/9,815
            Prov. 19/1,140
          Zone C1 21/1,958

Montluçon '14 Prov. 135/2,220
            Zone C1 156/4,015

Ramona, 3rd National La Souterraine

As we said, Ramona is another example of the successful combination of Jespers-Vanderwegen and Gaby Vandenabeele. The sire is Ronaldo, a direct Vandenabeele and a direct son of Rudy. Ronaldo has become another outstanding breeder in the loft in Holsbeek, especially when paired to the 500-hen, a daughter of stock pair Kleine Dirk x Fleur. The parents of Ramona have also bred the following prize winners:

BE12-2035768 Bourges Nat. 33,524 p. - 47th
BE12-2035705 Bourges Nat. 33,524 p. - 78th & Argenton Nat. 25.949 p. - 43rd
BE12-2035706 Argenton Nat. 22,463 p. - 61st

Ramona obviously originates from a family of national champions, which is quite common. Click here for the pedigree of Ramona, 3rd Nat. La Souterraine.

This has been an unforgettable season for the team of Jespers-Vanderwegen, even though the national young birds' season is yet to start, which is their main discipline. We think there is still a lot to come for the fanciers from Holsbeek!
