Gino Clique (Wevelgem, BE) excels in Châteauroux with 2 x 1st and 2 x 2nd Interprovincial

Coming up with an appropriate term for a remarkable result can be a challenge. What Gino Clicque achieved last weekend was not just good, and it was even better than fantastic. His racing team's performance in Chateauroux, which included 2 interprovincial first prizes, could be described as unparalleled, or perhaps breathtaking.

Destroying the field

The interprovincial race from Châteauroux took place on Saturday 19th of May, with 5904 old birds and 2343 yearlings on the start line. The race turned out to be a major victory for the pigeons of Clicque, including most notably two interprovincial first prizes (and 2 x 2nd!):

Good breeds good, or better

1st Interprov. Châteauroux 5,904 olds: Golden Châteauroux

The winning hen in the old birds' race, Golden Châteauroux (BE16-3144110), is a granddaughter of the renowned Golden Prince, 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB Long Distance Yearlings 2014. Her sire is a son of Pacha, the best long distance pigeon of Belgium in 2012 over 4 and 5 long distance races. In addition, he was 9th National Ace Pigeon KBDB Long Distance Olds. The dam is a daughter of Golden Prince. Golden Châteauroux was born in late September 2016 and was trained in 2017, which means she is showing her potential already in her first proper racing season. Here is a look at her full pedigree:

1st Interprov. Châteauroux 2,343 yearlings: Daughter Tyson

The winner in the yearlings' race is Daughter Tyson (BE17-3061717), which is of course a daughter of Tyson. Tyson won a 13th national in a demanding race from Brive, and a first prize at club level in Tulle the week after. He also won a 40th National from La Souterraine as a young bird. The dam of Daughter Tyson is Black Bolt, a 5th Provincial Ace Pigeon KBDB in the longer middle distance. Have a look at the complete pedigree below.

You can tell that the apple does not fall far from the tree in pigeon racing. Good breeds good, if not better...

Not a coincidence

The impressive result from Châteauroux is clearly not a coincidence; the team had been in great form over the past weeks as well. Here is a look at their results in April:

From nest to widowhood

In April, all pigeons were raced from the nest until the end of brooding or past brooding. The pigeons were all seperated after 28th of April, to switch over to widowhood instead. They were just a few days into widowhood when they had a fantastic result in a demanding race from Fontenay, and the racing team did great in Tours and Fontenay the week after as well.
