Alwin Petrie (Brummen - NL) cherishes capital breeding colony

One of the most inbred stock of pigeons of the Netherlands can be found in Brummen, by wonder man Alwin Petrie … a real family of front racers.

And as befits a good family; when Alwin has a pigeon return home, they all follow one after the other. The almost logical result being unapproachable chain results. It made Alwin a world star in pigeon land and his pigeons are invaluable to many lofts .

“Whoever pays great attention to the breeding, can have something for his basis for a long time,” Alwin Petrie rightly states. He still thanks his great successes to two rounds of youngsters which he bought in the 80’s from the great master Cees Suykerbuyk from Eefde … a star in the 1-day classics with a Janssen/Camphuis stock of pigeons. He led a.o. living legend ‘James Bond’ (1. Nat. Ace pigeon middle distance WHZB 1984’) and ‘Glamourboy’ (1. NPO Etampes with 8x 1. prize) to great heights … Both inbred ‘Fameuze 05’ pigeons, the wonder cock whose blood lines form the basis of the current Alwin Petrie stock

Chain results

Before we go into more detail about the superb breeding basis of the Alwin Petrie pedigree, we would like to look back at the results of the previous years. To once again underline the class of this colony. Figures often say enough … in the case of Alwin Petrie they say everything :

 2007: 1.-15.-16-etc. Lommel                 10.290 pigeons
1.-8.-9.-11.-21.-etc. Duffel     	        9.877 pigeons
1.-14.-etc. Haasrode            		8.350 pigeons
1. Peronne                  			6.485 pigeons

In 2007 only 6 races were participated in – then Alwin took a ‘sabbatical year’, due to the birth of his youngest daughter. In 2008 he returned to the arena with youngsters; to directly perform fabulously … he was marvellous in the 7 junior races .

In 2010 Alwin's price percentage of 73% 1:4 and 55% 1:10 especially appealed to the imagination !

‘Masaratti’

To suppose that all the success of Alwin Petrie can be traced back to one cock – and then the NL98-5834551 ‘Masaratti’ – is probably going too far … but it is conclusive that in nearly all the toppers there is a whiff – and not seldom a fair dash  - ‘Masaratti’ flowing through the veins. To begin with, the honours list of the master self, which is sometimes forgotten, but which speaks volumes :

 1. Duffel 611 pigeons
2. Heverlee 572 pigeons
2. Maaseik 501 pigeons
2. Creil 244 pigeons (5. against 1.117 pigeons)
3. Duffel 693 pigeons

5. Heverlee 2.810 pigeons
5. Creil 1.117 pigeons
7. Minderhout 2.557 pigeons
9. Chantilly 4.621 pigeons

Masaratti

‘‘Masaratti’ is a super product of the old bloodlines – his father comes out a grandson of ‘James Bond’ x cousin ‘Fameuze 05’ … and mother comes then out a cousin of ‘Glamourboy’ x inbred to ‘Fameuze 05’ … a real inbred product which stands at the basis of numerous toppers … His best children are :

‘Majesty’ & ‘First Knight’

The winning streak of children from ‘Masaratti’ started with the breakthrough of the nest brothers NL00-5012762 ‘First Knight’ and NL00-5012763 ‘Majesty’ … both icons of the skies which in the meantime have also demanded a leading role in the breeding team.  As a clapper ‘Majesty’ initially seemed to have the upper hand over his nest brother with an excellent honours list .

Majesty

‘Majesty’ is winner of

 1. Ace pigeon District Zutphen 2001
1. Ace pigeon District Zutphen 2002
1. Hensies 10.973 pigeons

First Knight

In the footsteps of ‘Majesty’, ‘First Knight’ also raced an good honours list together … Highlights of ‘First Knight’ are

 3. Ace pigeon late races District Zutphen 2001
1. Heverlee 572 pigeons
1. Lommel 414 pigeons
1. PS Maxence 233 pigeons

6. Boxtel 4.707 pigeons
12. Boxtel 13.748 pigeons

The thesis that the breeding worth of ‘First Knight’ equals that of his super brother ‘Majesty’ – if not surpasses him – is certainly justified… According to Alwin this topper deserves the title of new star breeder… His best descendants are :

Camelot

An enormously good racing cock which grew to be a wonder breeder is the NL05-2101989 ‘Santoro’ … he is a grandson of ‘Masaratti’ and with this displays the enormous breeding worth of this bloodline into many generations further without any problems … ‘Santoro’ won self a.o .

 1. Peronne 6.485 pigeons
1. Peronne 340 pigeons
1. Chantilly 65 pigeons
3. Chantilly 3.834 pigeons
3. Harchies 297 pigeons

‘During his active racing career ‘Santoro’ had already bred the wonder man NL08-1096400 ‘Santana’, who on mother’s side is a grandchild of ‘Camelot’, the top son of ‘First Knight’. ‘Santana’ showed his muscles by being able to race with a head lead in big competitions, which a.o. resulted in :

 1. Peronne 8.824 pigeons
1. Strombeek 2.005 pigeons

Other good children of ‘Santana’ are a.o .

‘Porsche Bond’ line

Descendants of the old super crack NL93-1990328 ‘Porsche Bond’ – grandson of the famous ‘James Bond’ – also made their mark in the loft of Alwin Petrie …Alvin guided this wonder man  to the title of 1. Ace pigeon province Rijn IJssel 1996 and he also turned out to be a fantastic breeder … by Alwin won a.o. his grandson ‘Mr. Bond’ the 1. NPO Bourges against 10.221 pigeons and in 2001 he won the title 2. Ace pigeon extreme middle distance province 8 with 4.500 members at the time … later, grandchildren of ‘Porsche Bond’, ‘Catharina Amalia’ (1. NPO Troyes 10.281 pigeons) and ‘Miss Antonia’ (1. NPO Bourges 10.040 pigeons) showed what they were worth .

A full sister of ‘Mr. Bond’ (NL04-1558366) bred excellently over the last few years; her descendants won a.o .

NL99-5917897 ‘Diva Bond’, a full sister of ‘Mr. Bond’, also left her mark in the racing lofts of Alwin Petrie … she is a.o. grandmother of the brothers NL08-1096364 ‘Silence’ and NL08-1096390 ‘Whisper’; two very strong cocks with an excellent honours list :

 - ‘Silence’ winner of 31 prizes from 42 x basketting and 21 prizes  1:10
        4. Peronne 395 pigeons (5. against 3.587 pigeons)

‘‘Porsche Bond’ descendants still more than play their part in the Petrie breeding loft, with NL01-1325903 ‘Inbreed Porsche Bond’ as important exponent … his father is a son of ‘Porsche Bond’ and mother is a granddaughter of both ‘Porsche Bond’ and ‘Blauwe 720’ … and that is then the father of ‘Porsche Bond’, bred out brother ‘Glamourboy’ x ‘daughter ‘Fameuze 05’. That is to say, inbred on all sides then. The ‘903 Inbred Porsche Bond’ bred a.o. the star twins ‘Gigi’ and ‘Gaga’, top shiners in 2010 with a.o .

‘Gigi’ was well on the way to being sent to the Olympiad in Poland in the category yearlings … had the lowest coefficient … but was ‘thwarted’ by the capping of the number of pigeons to a maximum of 5.000. It cost Alwin Petrie a well-deserved Olympic reward. Other children of ‘903 Inbred Porsche Bond’ are :

In the wake of ‘903 Inbred Porsche Bond’ the wonder hen NL03-2036105 ‘Super Hen 105’ holds high the honour of ‘Porsche Bond’… she was bred out ‘Blue Lagoon’ (half-sister of ‘Porsche Bond’) and was self a very deserving racing hen, who was soon used for breeding … yet she had already won

     1. Boxtel 2.125 pigeons
 4. Boxtel 427 pigeons
 5. St. Quentin 192 pigeons
 5. PS Maxence 146 pigeons
 7. Boxtel 323 pigeons
 7. Hensies 291 pigeons
 10. Haasrode 366 pigeons

In total she was basketted 25 times and won 19 prizes … wherefrom 17x 1:10. Her mother ‘Blue Lagoon’ also bred the 2. Nat. cock of the Netherlands WHZB 2003 with a.o. 1. prize against 10.478 pigeons … magnificent bloodlines, which ‘Super Hen 105’ passed on to her magnificent descendants. Her best children are :

Crossing

The two golden basis lines of Alwin Petrie have for years guaranteed a dominance of the Brummens great master in the sprint and middle distance competitions; they are powerless against the Petrie racing team when they are in full steam. In 2010 it gave him a.o. the 1. sprint championship in the province (whilst the scoring is a big disadvantage to Alwin). “I deliberately search for crossing material to bring fresh blood into my stock,” says Alwin. “So as a few years ago from Henk Bussing a for the last few years from Maurice Hassendonckx’.” Out the crossing Petrie x Hassendonkx came a.o. the toppers ‘Gigi’, ‘Gaga’, ‘Chanel’, ‘Lancelot’, ‘Blue Star’ and ‘Rossi’. “A crossing which has been very successful. Yet I only use the purchases purely as crossing material and don’t weave them into my own strain. As a result of which nearly all my breeders retain at least 75% of the old bloodlines and in the majority of cases even 100%. I know what these pigeons are capable of and wherever I look, I can’t find such an inbred ‘05’ strain. That’s why I’m economical with them, because despite the fact that various pigeon pedigrees come and go, these fabulous bloodlines have been virtually unbeatable in the 1-day races since the 1. Nat. Ace pigeon title of ‘Fameuze 05’ in 1981! !”
