(20/06/2018) John Crehan (Salford, UK) aka 'The Manchester Maestro' wins first national Ancenis with Solo Warrior - his single entry

Six hundred and twenty-nine members entered five thousand, one hundred and sixty pigeons into the National Flying Club race from Ancenis on 16th June 2018. They were liberated at 07.10CEST and the winner was clocked seven hours, twenty-nine minutes and forty-six seconds later at the Salford loft of John Crehan, also known as The Manchester Maestro.

In only their third season after re-starting racing Stafford and Wilson of Saltburn, UK have won the Queen's Cup, the highest achievement in the north-east of England's pigeon racing scene. In this article we hear about the preparation for the race and the weekend of the race itself.

(18/06/2018) Jan Hooymans (Kerkdriel, NL) victorious both in the NPO one day long distance race from Gien and in Asse-Zellik last weekend

Jan Hooymans scored a two out of two this weekend: he took the win in the NPO one day long distance race from Gien with a son of Sister Harry, against 4,581 pigeons. And he was victorious again in Asse-Zellik, this time with a son of Harry Junior.

Racing Team ADK was the only team in Belgium with no less than 5 yearlings in the top 100 of the national results in Chateauroux. This is another great result, with their outstanding performance from Vierzon still fresh in our memories.

Une fois n'est pas coutume, c'est un amateur de la province du Luxembourg qui remporte la victoire nationale de Valence, deuxième concours de fond du calendrier national. Après de nombreux tops 10 nationaux, Dominique Culot remporte ainsi la première victoire nationale de sa carrière!

(15/06/2018) Freddy and Jacques Vandenheede (Zingem, BE) win 1st Prov. and 1st Zone A2 Chateauroux old birds

These prizes were won with their first nominated pigeon, a talented racing bird that won a 2nd Prov. Vierzon three weeks earlier. He is a grandson of the iconic breeder and 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Longer Middle Distance KBDB 2010 New Freddy. The yearlings did great as well, starting with a 2nd Provincial, just like in Valence. It was a very successful weekend!

(13/06/2018) Adrien Mirabelle (Ghlin, BE) has an excellent start to the season with a 1st Provincial Limoges and 2 x top 20 zone

He has won 13 provincial and national titles over the past three seasons, and Adrien Mirabelle started the 2018 season with great flair as well. Numerous top results were won in Ghlin but the first real highlight of the year came on 2nd of June: a 1st Provincial Limoges, won by a highly talented bird with a remarkable pedigree.

It was another renowned Belgian pigeon fancier that has just won the first long distance classic on the national calendar: Limoges I, or the Paris-Roubaix of the Belgian pigeon racing competition.

Team Geerinckx could not have hoped for a better start to the long distance season. They claimed a 1st nat. zone B1 of 4,551 pigeons, a 1st prov. Antwerp of 1,318 p. and a 3rd nat. of 15,783 p., which makes for quite a successful early season indeed.

After his sale in 2014, Gaston Van de Wouwer knew it would be quite a challenge to return to his previous level. Well, you can clearly tell from his results these days that he is back on track. The provincial race from Blois on 2nd of June was a big success: he claimed a 1st and 5th provincial old birds and a 3rd provincial yearlings.

Norbert and his son Stefan claim a provincial first prize of 3,289 old birds and 3,367 yearlings in the provincial classic from Blois. Both first prizes were won by one and the same doubled yearling, a half brother of the invaluable Neymar.

Maurice Hasendonckx has become a household name in the international pigeon racing scene. He can be considered the main founder of the Heremans-Ceusters breed. Euro, Spinneke, Rossi, Olympic Sperwer, Bolt, etc. are all heavily founded on the Hasendonckx bloodlines. And other fanciers have done really well with his pigeons as well. Here is an anthology.

This is an exceptionnal performance that managed to book 'Beatrix' who won the race against the 20.282 old pigeons with a huge advance on the rest of the convoy. Famille 3D just won its first national victory after several top 10 national booked over the last 5 years.

It was once again a bull eye this weekend for Kévin Saudoyez: after Argenton in 2016 & Châteauroux in 2017, he just managed to win a third national victory with the 1st national Bourges against 19,129 yearlings!

(31/05/2018) Annick Goeteyn (Deinze, BE) has a fantastic weekend with a provincial first prize from Orleans

It was bound to happen. After some very successful weeks, the team of Goeteyn-Vanrenterghem claimed their first major win of 2018 in the weekend of 26th of May, winning a provincial first prize from Orleans with the fastest pigeon overall of 5,790 birds. They were also victorious at club level in Bourges, finishing in 33rd place national. Well done!

(29/05/2018) Vermeerbergen-Wilms-Mostmans (Rijkevorsel, BE): seven victories in 2018 and counting for the 'Super Grizly Sisters'

The descendants of sprint pair Grizzly Wonder Breeder x Blue Wonder have already claimed 33 first prizes and 64 prizes per 100. This is quite a palmares, given that this was done in just four racing seasons, and with a limited racing team.
