Philippe has won an impressive 31 first prizes in 2018, which shows that this has been another fantastic racing season indeed. And let's not forget that he had been sidelined for five weeks due to a nearby outbreak of the Newcastle Disease.

(07/12/2018) Gevaert-Lannoo (Meigem, BE) claim title of 1st Olympiad Pigeon of Belgium Cat. H – Poznan 2019

Their rather small team of racing birds did really well again in 2018, with no less than 16 first prizes, a grand total of five provincial titles KBDB, and on top of that a title of 1st Olympiad pigeon of Belgium in Category H KBDB in Poznan 2019.

Jan and Joke Kaman continue to be one of Holland's leading names in the one day long distance at national level this season. (04/12/2018) Cor de Heijde (Made, NL) displays his class in the classic from Barcelona with a 4th and 12th National of 3,912 pigeons

Cor de Heijde can look back on another exquisite 2018 season, winning for instance a 1st National Agen (6,379 p.), as well as a 4th and 12th National Barcelona (3,912 p.), the race in which he also had the best overall result at national and international level. The descendants of Klamper have once again demonstrated their potential in the marathon competition.

Roger Mylle had plenty of memorable moments again in 2018. This highly talented extreme long distance loft came into prominence repeatedly, for instance with their 5th Nat. Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance and Long Distance YLs KBDB, and they also had Belgium's best racing bird in Perpignan 2017-2018.

As I approach Arie's home I can already spot him sitting in his living room. Arie is not holding a pigeon this time but a guitar. As I enter the house, I spot a book about Pearl Jam. Clearly the Dijkstra family is not only about pigeon racing. Arie is musically gifted, "but I will always be a better fancier than a musician".

Arnould and Jean-Marie Raets cannot tell if 2018 has been their best season ever. They are racing in a trio with Kenny, the 30 year old son of Arnoul, and their loft is located in the town of Kortessem in the province of Limburg. They have another big star in their loft with Strong Lady (BE16-2249108), which became 1st National Ace Pigeon shorter middle distance old birds.

The often harsh weather conditions that we saw throughout the 2018 season felt like they were tailored for the fantastic Laureaat Barcelona bloodline of Carlo Gyselbrecht.
