It is with sadness that we report the passing of the super ace “LIMOGES” on September 9th 2010!

A tribute to a special pigeon and a special man! Frans Sablon was raised in a family of farmers. Loved nature, including all birds and most especially pigeons …

His father and his uncles all had racing  pigeons and they raced superbly at the short distance races. Frans was truly a pigeon fancier,  in the real sense of that word. He loved his birds and that is why it is now with sadness that I report to all of  our fellow fanciers worldwide that yesterday Mr.Frans Sablon held his “beloved” Champion “Limoges”  and spoke to it softely and stroked it gently as it breathed its last breaths in the hands of the man who bred him and loved him dearly. “Limoges” died at 19 years of age. Sadly he was the only pigeon that remained in the  Sablon lofts. Not just any pigeon mind you but a “Superstar” that gave Frans many unforgettable  memories. “Limoges”  passed away at 19 years of age on Sept 9th 2010,one of the Foundation Sires of the incredible “De Rauw Sablon “ strain.”Limoges”  sired a dynasty who’s descendants will continue to give their owners worldwide the same joy and unforgettable moments that they gave “Frans” for so many years. A very special bird and a very special… man as one lover of pigeons to another I share in your sadness and loss!
