Geert Maroy (Heestert, BE) wins 1st-2nd-4th Nat. Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance YL KBDB 2023

Could it get any better? After having won 1st and 8th National Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance YL KBDB last year, the best 3 yearlings in Belgium from 2022 and 2023 now reside on the lofts in Heestert!

Geert Maroy: the ‘rising star’

Geert Maroy is one of the main men when it comes to extreme long distance racing in Belgium in the past years. For the second consecutive year Geert Maroy and his mate Sebastien Courtens take Belgian pigeon sport by surprise. The ultimate reward came in 2022 when their Fritts won the title of 1st National Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB in an incredibly tough season. Whilst superstars Luc (1st Best Belgian pigeon across 4 long distance races PIPA Ranking and 6th Nat. Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB 2022) and Blue Jackson (8th Nat. Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2022) made the season complete. When it seemed as if things couldn't possibly get better, in 2023 Flor, Christoph and Victor became 1st, 2nd and 4th National Ace Pigeon Extreme Long Distance KBDB. In addition, Geert and Sebastien also became 2nd National Champion Extreme Long Distance Yearlings KBDB and 16th Nat. Champion Long Distance Old birds & Yearlings KBDB 2023. What a season!

Thereby, the colony of Geert Maroy is one of the most awarded colonies in Belgium on long distance and extreme long distance racing. Having won this many titles in the past two racing seasons, they belong to the greatest champions in our sport. The doors to the 'hall of fame' are thereby openend, and we haven't even spoken about winning 1st Provincial Agen against 1,665 Yearlings in 2023 as the season opener.

Summing up, the 3 best yearlings from Belgium on extreme long distance races from 2022-2023 were raced by Geert Maroy, winning 1st-1st-2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB on this tough discipline. There must be some real extreme long distance powerhouses on the lofts in Heestert, that much is clear. High time to introduce these aces, the supercracks which won these impressive titles.

An upcoming colony

Housing the 3 best yearlings on extreme long distance races of the past two years, they are set for the future. There is no better breeding material than ace pigeons, a country's best pigeons. They prove to carry the ideal combination of genes, capable of performing better than any other pigeon. Trying to secure these genes within the colony is the next challenge.

In building their colony, Geert and Sebastien don't look at impressive pedigrees but pigeons with performances, achieving top results on a national level. Pedigrees don't win races, they are only nice to look at. Top pigeons and winners prove to have the right genes to perform at a national level. These are the pigeons they want to build their stock with in Heestert. Breeding from pigeons with racing credentials, where their achievements are most important as opposed to their name or heritage.
Their achievements of the past years didn't just happen. They were the result of a well though-out breeding strategy (pairing cracks to cracks), a lot of racing, and a strict selection policy. What Geert and Sebastien managed in 2022 and 2023 is not self-evident, it is highly exceptional. Something to be truly proud of. We therefore want to congratulate these men with their fantastic achievements, enjoy them to the fullest, and all the best in the future!
