Fanciers were quite impressed when Dutch long distance phenomenon Jelle Jellema claimed victory in the extremely demanding 2020 Barcelona classic, over a distance of 1293km. We can all agree that the Jellema racing bird has grown to become the number one long distance breed worldwide. And the grandmaster himself backed up that claim with a 1st-7th-18th-24th-33rd-38th-39th National in the 2020 Barcelona classic. His race winner was Silke, which had already claimed a 3rd Int. Narbonne 2016, 137th Nat. Perpignan 2018, 157th Nat. Barcelona 2018, 157th Nat. Marseille 2017, and 196th Nat. Perpignan 2019. And she is in fact the grandmother of three other prize winners in Barcelona 2020: a 15th Nat., 24th Nat. And 39th Nat. Barcelona 2020.
The pigeon that claimed a 7th Nat. Barcelona 2020 also underlines the breeding potential of the Jellema family. This New Rena is a youngster of Rena (6th Int. Pau and 8th Nat. Barcelona), which is in turn a youngster of Evi (9th Nat. Perpignan and 10th Nat. Barcelona). The breeding potential of the PIPA Elite Center has left many fanciers amazed. Their level of performance reached unprecedented heights in 2020, with most notably a 2 x 1st NATIONAL for Casaert-Sénéchal with direct PEC pigeons. These two victories came in just two weeks’ time, and the two national winners are grandchildren of the legendary “Porsche 911”. The bloodlines of Porsche 911, Dali, Boxster, Golden Boxster, Louise etc. have been thriving; we could even say they are dominating the competition these days.
In the national race from Souillac, as many as 15 PEC pigeons finished in the national top 100 for Ariën De Keyser and Casaert-Sénéchal, including of course a 1st Nat. Souillac of 7,514 pigeons with “Maurice”. And Julienne had already won a 1st Nat. Limoges Old two weeks before that. A total of 25 pigeons finished in the national top 100 in Limoges.
