Marc de Cock (BE, Temse): player and breeder of national ace pigeons and Olympiad Pigeons

If fanciers are talking about the strongest players in Belgium over the past decade, the name of Marc De Cock will inevitably be brought up by anyone that knows a thing or two about the sport.

It goes without saying that Marc De Cock is indeed one of the great stars and one of the most sensational players of modern-day pigeon racing. Just like in his professional career, where he runs a very successful retail business in processed meats and fine charcutery called "Charles", Marc has always been working with and striving for the best of the best. This is what kept him motivated throughout his pigeon racing career. A modern strategy and a lot of determination (which is something all the great stars have in common) was the combination that enabled Marc to become a highly successful fancier and for sure one of our sport's greatest players. To explain what makes this pigeon family a world class breed, we will be discussing his most impressive achievements over the past five years, to show you that Marc has done a lot more than just obtain top quality bloodlines.

A first notable name in this team is "Johan 275", a fantastic racing bird that saw the light of day in Marc's pigeon lofts.

Johan 275

'Johan 275' won a title of 1st provincial ace pigeon KBDB long distance 2015. This also led to a bronze medal at national level: 3rd National Ace Pigeon long distance 2015. On top of that, he also won a title of Golden Ring in the long distance, and he was 1st Ace Pigeon long distance in the LCB magazine. He was also the best pigeon across 5 long distance races in the 2015 PIPA Ranking long distance. This prestigious title illustrates the tremendous strengths of Marc De Cock's pigeon family. This bird then repeatedly demonstrated his potential as a breeder as well, even at international level. To begin with, he is the grandfather of a 7th place winner in the final of the famous OLR Grand Prix Thailand, a race that is still unmatched in terms of difficulty. This descendant of "Johan 275" was also 2nd ace pigeon winner in that same race. He is also the sire of BE17-4091182, a racing cock that proved just as talented as his illustrious sire. We take a look at his tremendous palmares:

She has clearly inherited the breeding potential of her sire as well: she is now the dam of BE19-4045083, a successful racing hen that claimed the prestigious title of Golden Ring category long distance in her year of birth, in the extremely demanding "Golden Ring competition" in the Waasland region. Besides, she is a granddaughter of another superstar called "Bold Eagle" from her father's side. We take a look at her palmares:

“165/17” is in turn the dam of BE19-4045187 (grandson “Bold Eagle)". In his very first season, this racing cock became 1st Ace Pigeon Flying Club, which is one of the most demanding competitions in the province, with such renowned members as Hugo Vlaeminck, Benny Steveninck, Yban Baetens and others. This is his palmares so far:

The exceptional breeding value of the "Bold Eagle" bloodlines was also demonstrated by BE15-4198056, a full sister of that same "Bold Eagle". She was transferred to the breeding loft fairly quickly, where she has clearly lived up to her potential. She did have a brief yet successful racing career as well:

This sister did not race very often but she did prove to be quite a successful breeding bird. She is for instance the dam of the unparallelled “Provincial Lady (BE16-4013089).

Provincial Lady

This queen of the air has quite an impressive list of achievements. For instance, she was co-winner of a second place in the 2018 national championships KBDB. She also won a silver ring in the demanding Waasland golden ring competition in the middle distance. We take a look at her achievements:

The 2019 season almost looked like a copy of the tremendous 2018 season. There was most notably an ace pigeon title of 4th National Ace Pigeon KBDB long distance with “Double Remco” BE 18/4164005. This bird also wins a golden ring in the Waasland region in the long distance. Besides, he is a half brother of "266/18", winner of a 9th place in the final of the Derby International OLR Costa del Sol (Spain). This "266/2018" happens to be a grandchild of "Johan 75", a 3rd Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB long distance, a 1st provincial ace pigeon KBDB and a 1st ace pigeon long distance LCB. Johan 75 also won a golden ring in 2015 and he was the best pigeon across five races in the 2015 PIPA Ranking.
