Roland & Guy Nihoul (Senzeilles, BE) win the 1st national Narbonne against 2.844 yearlings!

Four top 3 won in the national championships of the KBDB in six seasons, six consecutives titles of provincial long distance champion KBDB, three zone victories won over the last two seasons, hundreds of national top 100 positions won in ten years of time... and now a national victory as cherry on the cake! This weekend, Roland & Guy Nihoul prooved the world they were a part of the best from their discipline.

Roland and his son Guy Nihoul.

Clocked at 20h19''54 after a trip of 790 kilometers, the pigeon of the Nihoul father and son reached the average speed of 1.000,14 m/min, so an advance of a little bit more than 7 m/min on the pigeon of Boris Burniat (Ste-Marie/Semois) while Patrick Cherain (Bleid) completed the podium with an average speed of 968 m/min. At the international level, the Nihoul pigeon ended unfortunately at the second place, beatten of... 48cm!! The winning pigeon from the german combination Grunholz-Dietrich reached the average speed of 1.000,62 m/min. A very small advance who deprive the belgian loft to book a wonderful international victory. However, Guy Nihoul has no regrets: 'Our pigeon didn't loose any single seconde. After we saw him coming straight from the good direction, he directly went in direction of the entrance of his loft. He didn't loose any second. That's life. The national victory is enough for us!'.

And what had to happen happened...

The Nihoul colony is one of the most titled long distance loft from Belgium. It has been several decades that this incredible colony founded by Roland Nihoul is making the buzz as their success toured the world. But since the new millenium, they raised their level. With more than twenty national or zonal top 100 positions each year, they act as flag bearer from the walloon pigeon sport. And during four years, they were simply the best from Belgium of their disciplines.

1st National Champion Long Distance 2008 KBDB
1st National Champion Long Distance 2009 KBDB
1st National Champion Long Distance 2011 KBDB
3rd National Champion Heavy Long Distance 2013 KBDB
8th National Champion Heavy Long Distance 2009 KBDB

Despite the enormous interest, Roland & Guy always wanted to keep their so that they could strenghten their breeding basis to, later, harvest the fruits. After they had been raced with an amazing career longevity, the pigeons who were responsible of the three national titles, namely 'Turbo', 'Magnifique', 'Professionnel', are now giving some marvellous breeding results. Like a good old wine, these pigeons gained maturity and power year after year. Until they reach their highest level at the age of 4 or 5 years. At this moment, they were ready to start the last part of their career: the breeding one. Nowadays, father and son are satisfied they had been loyal to their philosophy. Because the result is astonishing: the new generation of racers is more tough and efficient.

Actually, the Nihoul father and son are part of the national top. They are firmly anchored into the top 5  of the best long distance loft from Belgium. Their recent national victory is in fact the consecration of a very long and hard work of selection. At the end, it had to happen. This 26th of july 2014 around 20h19, the job was done.

A 2014 season of high level

In 2014, the season of the Nihoul loft is simply incredible. A few weeks ago, we already published a report about their recent zonal victory won on Limoges by 'Tiger Eyes' who booked the 1st zone C against 5.228 pigeons (click here to check the report published at the begining of the season). 'Tiger Eyes' is the living proof of the longevity of these pigeons as he booked this victory at the age of 4 years. Four weeks later, Roland and Guy Nihoul made it again with the zonal victory of Montélimar against 2.328 pigeons (5th national from 3.868 pigeons). You need to know that the zonal winner from Montélimar and the national winner from Narbonne have the same father, namely 'Timide'. With the national victory, the 2014 season is simply fantastic! Moreover that they are still in competition to obtain a new classification in the national championship of the KBDB! Simply exceptionnal!
