Olivier Carlier (Wauthier-Braine, BE) sets new goals for 2019!

Any good pigeon fancier able to catch the right quality pigeons will see the level of his results increasing in no time straight to the top. Then, it's up to you to have the right feeling, enough rigour and know-how. A small boost of lady luck is always welcome to make sure it is on the right track. Olivier Carlier is the perfect example.

Olivier is racing pigeons since the '80's. He made a name for himself thanks to his two first cracks, 'Senna' & 'Jordan', who ended both their breeding career in Taiwan where they are still renowned pigeons nowadays. At the beginning of the 2000's, things were getting down a little bit. He became father, rebuilt himself the house he just bought with his wife and he also occupied a busy job in the painting company he owns with his brother. The pigeon sport came only in last position but after several years of low activity, he decided to get back at it. He already knew you can't achieve good things in pigeon sport without the right material and that's why he gave himself the right means. Carlier has been always know for paying big prices when he had his eyes on something. During the first total auction of Erik Limbourg, he bought for big money the 'Special Eye Patron', a super racer from the Limbourg loft with 5x into the national (zone) top 100 positions and full brother of the 'Bonten Patron', 5x top 100 national zone as well.

In his lofts built in Ophain, this pigeon became an exceptionnal breeder and we can find him back on the pedigrees of several generations of top racers. The most important of them is the last crack he discovered, a superb blue cock christened 'Olympic Patron' who made his manager a happy man during the racing season 2016:

If the impact of the 'Special Eye Patron' is still huge nowadays, another pigeon was even more important on the development of the Carlier racing team over the last few years...

Instantanenous success with the introduction of the Geerinckx pigeons

The Geerinckx made their entry into this colony during the winter 2011-2012. At the time, it is his friend Adrien Mirabelle who bought a late bred from 2009, a full brother of the 'Nationaal' from Luc, Bart & Jurgen Geerinckx (1st national Limoges against 11.869 pigeons). Still a student and living at his parents place, Adrien doesn't have big means and was stuck by his enthusiasm during the sale of this pigeon. He goes through the numbers of his phone seeking for somebody who will be up for a good deal. His first call is given to Olivier Carlier and the rest of the story is known. During his first year in the breeding loft, this fantastic white chequered cock later christened 'Chipo's Lad' bred 5 pigeons entered to the races and no less than 3 of them managed to book a victory right from the first year. This can't be a coincidence. Adrien & Olivier are convinced they put their hands on a fantastic breeding talent, a feeling that will be strenghtened during the next years. The two friends also started to buy various Geerinckx pigeons with ao. direct children of Wittekop Sylvester, of Gladiator, of Luc, etc. At the basis of various success through the world, the Geerinckx pigeons also made the difference for Carlier and for Mirabelle where they were at the basis of several crack pigeons. About this, the 'Chipo's Lad' is probably one of the best pigeons who left the lofts of Wommelgem!

- 'Chipo's Lad' (BE09-6354561)

Used as a breeding stalion right from the beginning, the 'Chipo's Lad' has been paired up with several hens and produced numerous first prize winners in first, second, third and even fourth generation. His descendants have been able to dominate the races both in Belgium than abroad and even in some One Loft Races.

As explained previously, 3 of his first 5 children bred in his first year of breeding managed to book a victory in 2012. The first real crack he became father of is 'Benny':

As you probably noticed it, 'Olivia' is a granddaughter of the 'Special Eye Patron' from who we talked about before, which makes her a cousin of the 'Olympic Patron'. In pigeon sport, the apple never fall far from the tree..

'Olivia' is also mother of a.o.:

We must also add that the 'Chipo 168' is also grandfather of the 1st prize Training IV Algarve Golden Race 2017 against 3.954 pigeons.

During the same year of breeding, he also became father of 'Ginnie', a fantastic breeding hen for Adrien Mirabelle:

- 'Ginnie' (BE13-1500108)

'Ginnie' is mother of a.o. the '153/17' who was entered in the Algarve Golden Race in 2017 where she won:

2nd semi-final Algarve Golden Race 2017 against 2.666 pigeons (beatten from one second)

Again at Adrien Mirabelle, the 'Chipo's Lad' is father of the super crack 'Gorki 846/15' as well as his nestbrother, the '845/15'. Both pigeons have been introduced in the recent report published on Adrien's colony last week. To read it again, click here.

The blood of the 'Chipo's Lad' is also doing a wonderful job in some other places, for example with Kévin Saudoyez where a grandson is one of the current star of the racing loft. It's an egg received by Adrien Mirabelle:

A brand new start in Wauthier-Braine

Olivier Carlier made a reputation to his name thanls to the quality of his pigeons, which is proved by the fact they also booked numerous victories in various other lofts. After he was racing at the top in his lofts in Ophain, he came back on a brand new house built next to his parents house in Wauthier-Braine (30 km south of Brussels), exactly at the same place where he started to race pigeons about thirty years ago. Like it is often the case, his lofts were built way before the house was finished. He will do his best to refind his racing level as soon as possible, under the watchful eye of his father Valère who, from the skies, closely follow each step of his son. The first racing results booked last year were anyway very encouraging. Good luck Oli !
