Olivier Carlier (Ophain, BE): The remake of the '4 fantastics' in his breeding loft !

Everybody knows that buying high quality pigeons will give you the possibility to achieve your goals faster. Olivier Carlier won't say the opposite as he always went to his pocket when it was time to obtain the best pigeons. He actually harvesting the fruits of his investments!

Olivier & Lisa with 'Océane', 2x 2nd Ace Pigeon Provincial KBDB in 2012!

Olivier (44) has been a pigeon fancier for more than 30 years. It was thanks to his father, Valère (who unfortunately passed away in December 2012), that he contracted the bug. He began to race at his father's house in Wauthier-Braine (30 km to the south of Brussels) and he was mainly racing sprint. It was the era of his famous pigeons like Senna, Jordan, Bon Gris, etc. Some wonderful racers who made possible to classify himself 5 x into the national championships of the KBDB within 3 years. These pigeons also seduced some fanciers from the far east at that time and they often visited our friend. It was back at the end of the ’80's, beginning of the ’90's and Olivier already knew at that time that it was better to invest in only one pigeon, the one who suits you perfectly, than invest in ten below average pigeons. A philosophy he still use nowadays.

After a removal, a wedding and a daughter, Olivier is now focussed on the longer middle distance races. He obtained some high quality material when he went to the total auction of Erik Limbourg & Pros Roosen where he did his best to obtain what he seeked. The Geerinckx from Wommelgem also made their entry in the breeding loft of Ophain and the first results showed it was some top transfer. In addition, the young birds are now tested in Ophain but also in the loft of Adrien Mirabelle from Quaregnon (PIPA agent Wallonia & France) with whom he does joint breeding. And when your pigeons, coming from the same line, are able to fly ahead to two different lofts (and so without the same conditions), then you know that they are from unique quality. The balance from the 2012 season can be seen as excellent, mostly for the youngsters:

Best Provincial Loft 1+2 nom. all category (old birds, yearling, young birds)
1st Provincial Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Young Birds KBDB

3rd General Champion Young Birds LCB Reg Wallonne
5th Provincial Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Olds RFCB

As said above, the breeding loft is strenghtened each year. It is actually based on a few cocks that we are going to introduce you now.

The super racer, winner of 10 x 1st prize and 4 x top 80 national zone! A sensational racer who made the Carlier loft one of the hardest to beat in the national races at provincial level. He was placed in the breeding loft in 2011 and he should have been selected 2nd Belgian pigeon to the Olympiad of Poznan in 2011 but his owner didn't notice it in time. He came to strengthen the breeding loft and he is actually doing it well up until now.
Small story: about 10 years ago, Olivier bought a voucher at Marcel & Pierre Loppe (Rixensart), one of the most titled loft of the province of Brabant Wallon. The young birds he received were super talent and the next year, Olivier asked to buy them a brother or a sister. Marcel & Pierre answered 'No, we are going to make you a special gift', and Olivier received the parents! A pair who later bred Jova and who continue to produce some good birds each year. A gift that Olivier will never forget!

- Special Eye Patron'(BE 07-2135134)

As he always wants to make his loft stronger, Olivier bought this cock at the total auction of Eric Limbourg organized by PIPA in December 2009. This super racer classified himself 3 x into the top 60 national zone, once into the national top 100 and once into the semi-national top 100! In addition, he is the nest brother of the Bonten Patron, a super racer who classified himself 5 x into the top 100 national zone in only two seasons! And guess what? The Special Eye Patron is actually becoming one of the greatest breeding sensations of Belgium! Judge for yourself:

- Chipo's Lad (BE 09-6354561)

The story of this pigeon is quite amazing as, despite his young age, he has already changed owner three times. It is, in fact, a direct cock from Geerinckx L,B&J (Wommelgem), full brother of their Nationaal who won the 1st Limoges National in 2009 (Son Gladiator x Daughter Chipo). He was first sold as a young bird in a Jewels of the Sky auction organized on PIPA. However, the buyer decided to resell him with another auction website back in november 2011. It was then Olivier Carlier who bought it in partnership with Adrien Mirabelle. Directly put into an individual breeding box, he received 3 differents hens and the result is quite impressive: from the 5 youngsters that he bred and were raced, 3 of them won a 1st prize in two differents lofts and this during the very first year of testing, it is the proof that he has some great breeding skills. But how could it have not been the case as his two grand-fathers are two of the most renowned pigeons of the Belgian pigeon sport at this time? He was also coupled with super hens like for example, numerous daughters of the Special Eye Patron (see above). His owners are now wishing that his next youngsters will confirm his skills during the new season. Let's now have a look to its descendants:

What's next?

In Ophain, they're active in the transfer market! During the last shopping trip, they bought a son of Miss Argenton and a daughter of the pair Gladiator x Bourgeske, both coming from Geerinckx L,B&J. And we shouldn't forget the arrival of Red Bull from the partnership of Thibaut-Boons, a super racer with a national top 100 and nest brother of the Super 58 (1st Aces of Aces LCB 2010) and coming from the top pair Sebastian x Jeanne. Yes, the future looks bright for the loft of Ophain !

'Red Bull', new top transfert !

Olivier, thanks for everything and i wish you a super season in 2013!
