Marc De Cock (Temse, BE) aims for top quality and perfection

Building a strong team in your own loft is an art form but creating a breed that allows other fanciers to achieve great results as well is even more challenging. Marc De Cock proved in 2017 that top quality is the one and only secret behind a successful pigeon breed.

Determined to succeed

Marc De cock was young, he knew he had a knack for doing business, and he wanted to put his talents to good use. He rolled up his sleeves to start building an imperium, just like his father and grandfather had done in the meat industry. It typifies the walk of life of Marc De Cock, CEO of Cock's Vleeswaren, a leading name in the Belgian meat industry.

The fact that his father and grandfather were successful pigeon fanciers as well, has probably steered him towards becoming a fancier as well, a hobby that allows him to forget about his demanding professional career from time to time. But he did not just want to keep pigeons; he wanted to develop a pigeon breed that could compete with the world's best players.

His career as a pigeon fancier appears to reflect his company philosophy, with an obsession for perfection and for top quality, which is his one and only secret to success. He knows full well that you have to use top quality ingredients to get to a great product that meets the highest standards. And his renowned pigeon breed happens to be housed in one of the most impressive pigeon lofts in Western Europe as well.

Driven by an irresistible urge to be the best in his field, Marc started to look for pigeons that could help him achieve his goals. One of them is Eagle Eye, a prestigious purchase (from the E. Limbourg auction) that made headlines across the globe. The bloodline of this exceptional pigeon is about to become world heritage, and it features in the pedigrees of many of today's national and international champions.
Another bloodline with a similar reputation is that of the legendary '801 Aelbrecht' (from long distance champion Marcel Aelbrecht), which is closely related to the golden De Rauw-Sablon breed. These two world class bloodlines are being combined with the lines of Olympiad Pigeons and National Ace Pigeons in the Marc De Cock breeding loft. This is the best of the best. Another equally successful bloodline is hat of the legendary ‘801 Aelbrecht’ (from long distance champion Marcel Aelbrecht), which is heavily based on the invaluable De Rauw-Sablon breed.

These very bloodlines have made the De Cock racing team hugely successful, and allowed him to become one of the leading names in Belgium, winning countless provincial, zonal and even national victories over the years. Pigeon magazines and websites worldwide have reported extensively about his achievements.

Marc De Cock pigeons at the basis of national ace pigeons and victories

This renowned pigeon breed was very successful again this season, winning several prestigious first prizes and top results at national level. The team claimed quite a number of victories in the longer middle distance and the long distance, including Bourges (373 YLs), Brive (105 olds), 2 x Limoges II (137 olds and 204 YLs), Blois (141 YLs) and Libourne (59 YLs).

A proven way of determining the true strength of a pigeon breed is by looking at its achievements in other lofts, and its references both at home and abroad. And the Marc De cock pigeons have had plenty of references in 2017; we take you through some of their best results below.
