Kurt & Raf Platteeuw (Rumbeke, BE) claim 1st and 2nd Interprovincial Blois (14/05) of 4,845 pigeons with a dazzling display of strength

Kurt & Raf Platteeuw are right where they wanted to be, as they continue their winning streak from 2018 (and the previous year): they claim a double interprovincial first prize from Blois, or a 1st and 2nd of 4,845 pigeons. This is quite a head start.

Kurt & Raf Platteeuw have a head start again in 2019

A terrific 2018 season

The year 2018 was a brilliant season for the West Flemish supercombo from Rumbeke: they excelled in the national races on a weekly basis, resulting in a vast number of national top prizes: they claimed an impressive 124 top 100 prizes across all the national races of the demanding 2018 season, which is almost twice as much as the previous record, which had stood for many years. Click here for their record-breaking streak.

It goes without saying that their dominant display also resulted in several top prizes in the national ace pigeon championships KBDB: they had 7 pigeons in the top 9 in the All-round category, and an additional 3 pigeons in the top 10 for the long distance. This is quite an incredible feat!

We published an article about their amazing 2018 season just a few weeks ago; it can be found here.

Off to a searing start in 2019

The inter-Westflemish race from Blois, the interprovincial opening classic, and traditionally a preparatory race for the nationals, had 4,845 old birds and 1,892 yearlings at the start line. Kurt & Raf were incredibly strong that day, dominating the pack in extraordinary fashion:

4,845 olds (int.provincial): 1-2-6-17-20-24-25-26-33-46-56-60-66-78-85-87-88-92-100-103-104-105-112… (148/215), including 67 prizes per 10
1,892 yearlings (int.provincial): 1-6-7-20-31-34-36-39-41-42-43-44-46-47-66-74-99-102-103-105… (60/92), including 31 prizes per 10

The one year olds were all doubled in the old birds' category.

The interprovincial winners are quite talented racing birds indeed. The victory in the old birds' race went to Ace 038 Adele, BE17-3117038, which also claimed a 2nd National Ace Pigeon title Allround KBDB in 2018. The yearlings' race was won by Kim BE18-3101830 (she came in second in the old birds' race). Kim was one of Kurt's favourites, since she is a 100% New Cannibal descendant.

Ace 038 Adele - BE17-3117038 - 1st Interprovincial Blois - 4,845 olds / 2nd National Ace Pigeon All-Round KBDB 2018

Ace 038 Adele is quite an extraordinary bird. She won a title of 2nd National Ace Pigeon All-round KBDB in 2018 as a one year old, based on the following results:

7th Nat. Jarnac (4,490 pigeons)
122nd Nat. Gueret (8,517 pigeons)
126th Nat. Narbonne (3,017 pigeons)
192nd Nat. Limoges (7,236 pigeons)

And she appears to be in great form again this season, claiming a 1st Interprovincial Blois of 4,845 pigeons.

Ace 038 Adele is a granddaughter of the great champion Adele (BE11-3011390), a 14th National Ace Pigeon KBDB. And more importantly, she claimed the following titles in the provincial ace pigeon competition KBDB in West Flanders in just four years' time:

2011: 3rd Prov. Ace Pigeon longer middle distance
2012: 2nd Prov. Ace Pigeon longer middle distance
2013: 3rd Prov. Ace Pigeon longer middle distance
2014: 2nd Prov. Ace Pigeon longer middle distance

Her other grandparents are such stars as Martin, McGee (24th Nat. Gueret) and 405 Diamond (a brother of Devils Daughter).

Kim - Be18-3101830 - 1st Interprovincial Blois 1,892 yearlings / 2nd Interprovincial Blois - 4,845 olds

Kim is yet another descendant of the already famous New Cannibal pigeon family to come forward. Kim is in fact closely related to Cannibal (1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB sprint and now a top breeder in the lofts in Rumbeke) through both her parents.

The sire of Kim is a direct son of Varenne (2 x 1st Provincial and a son of Sea Biscuit) x a full brother of Cannibal.

The dam of Kim is a daughter of Brother Ourasi 064, winner of 4 first prizes and a direct youngster of stock pair 2. And she is also a granddaughter of the sister of Moeder Cannibal from her mother's side.

2019 - another great season

The 2019 season has only just started, but you can already tell that Kurt & Raf Platteeuw have had a great start to the 2019 season. Their Cannibal bloodline is clearly an invaluable part of their breeding loft. A new descendant of this talented family comes into prominence almost every single week, ready to make it to the top. 2019 will be no different, and so we are eagerly awaiting the first few national races of the season. To be continued.
