Jan Hooymans (Kerkdriel, NL) has two new aces in his breeding loft: New Harry and Harry Junior

Youngsters and grandchildren of New Harry and Harry Junior show their breeding potential again in 2018, both in their home loft and in other lofts.

Jan Hooymans and New Harry

Mixed feelings

Jan Hooymans will not be forgetting the 2018 season any time soon. He lost his world famous Harry in August, which was a major loss in terms of quality. But anyone who knows Jan Hooymans, will not be surprised to hear that his breeding team was well prepared for this. In other words, he did have some very talented newcomers that were eagerly awaiting their chance to step up. We would like to talk you through two pigeons that are about to follow in the footsteps of their sire or grandfather Harry.

NL14-1219811 New Harry, the sire of a 1st National Nanteuil sector 3 of 14,422 p.

New Harry

NL14-1219811 New Harry is a son of top pair NL12-1784621 Beauty Harry x NL10-1881869 Stareye. It makes New Harry a brother of Max, 1st National Ace Pigeon middle distance YBs PIPA Ranking 2015. New Harry has had quite a racing career, winning a 1st Niergnies 14,737 p., a 1st Pt. St. Maxence 12,94 p. and a 1st Melun 1046 p. He was then transferred to the breeding lofts in Kerkdriel, and his youngsters and grandchildren are now winning one top result after another; how about we take a look at his references in 2018.

NL18-5002214 Jane, granddaughter of New Harry. Jane wins a 1st National Nanteuil sector 3 of 14,422 p.

National first prize for granddaughter New Harry

Youngsters and grandchildren of all the best Hooymans birds are put to the test in the racing lofts of Christian van de Wetering (Wijk en Aalburg), and this has been a solid strategy so far. It was thanks to his Hooymans birds that Christian won the title of Best Fancier in The Netherlands in the national WHZB competition 2018. To add to that, he also claimed a national first prize in the young birds' race from Nanteuil of 14,422 pigeons with Jane, a granddaughter of New Harry. Click here for Jane's pedigree.

The pieces come together

New Harry was often paired to new hens, and it seems like he combined very well with two hens in particular. The first one is NL14-1210073, a daughter of Harry. This pair bred two daughters that claimed a top 10 prize NPO. The first one was won in the NPO race from Niergnies young birds by Evert Steenis (Zoelen, NL), where NL18-5002284 Daughter New Harry finished in 9th place of 4849 pigeons. The second top 10 prize NPO was won in Jan's own racing loft: NL17-1410218 Child New Harry claimed a 10th prize in the NPO race from Chateauroux of 3514 pigeons. That same hen delivered in the NPO race from Melun as well, with a 13th of 6025 pigeons.

And New Harry did even better when paired to NL14-1208707 Laatje 707, a daughter of Harry paired to his sister Laatje 56. Together they have bred four hens that have in turn produced five top ten winners NPO for four different lofts. Here we have all four of them:

NL16-1663140 Harry Junior, the sire of a 1st Asse-Zellik Prov. 7 of 8257 pigeons

Harry Junior - Jan Hooymans's new favourite

NL16-1663140 Harry Junior is the new favourite breeder of Jan Hooymans. A son of Harry, this bird met the exceptations already in 2017, with three teletext prizes won by his youngsters. Despite being young of age, he already has quite a list of references to his name, and some other top prizes were added to that list over the course of 2018 as well.

NL17-1410056 Son Harry Junior, the revelation for 2018

The revelation in the racing loft of Jan Hooymans

A talented new racing bird has come to the fore in 2018 for Jan Hooymans: NL17-1410056 Son Harry Junior was the fastest bird in Asse-Zellik in Province 7 Central Holland against no less than 8257 pigeons. He wins 12 prizes in 13 races, including 10 prizes of 1:20; this direct son of Harry Junior showed his potential in 2018. Jan Hooymans traditionally aims to excel in the one day long distance races NPO, and he must have been particularly satisfied in the first one day long distance race of the season. Son Harry Junior showed his potential yet again in the demanding race from Bourges, claiming a 4th prize national of 16,516 birds in sectors 3 and 4 (1166 m/min). Click here for the pedigree of Son Harry Junior.

Top 10 NPO with the young birds

We saw another excellent top 10 prize with a direct youngster of Harry Junior in the young birds' race NPO from Melun. NL18-5002047 Daughter Harry Junior won a 9th of 3882 pigeons, as well as an 11th national in sector 3 against 8389 pigeons. Click here for the pedigree of Daughter Harry Junior. And team member Christian van de Wetering has also done very well with the youngsters of Harry Junior: he too claimed a top 10 prize NPO with a Harry Junior descendant, with NL18-5002097 finishing in 7th place of 4849 pigeons from Niergnies. Click here for the full pedigree.

The sire of five pigeons with a top 10 prize NPO

A talented bloodline is destined to deliver one day, and that clearly applies to Harry Junior. This talented young breeder is now the sire of five different birds that win a top 10 prize NPO, even though he is just two years old.

Quality in abundance

The breeding lofts in Kerkdriel are home to plenty of top quality birds; you can tell from the long list of references from the 2018 season, which you can find here. Jan Hooymans is privileged to be able to breed from a family of race winners that have given generation after generation of talented descendants. New Harry and Hary Junior are the living proof; these fantastic birds are looked after by Jan Hooymans, and they are in good hands. We reckon these names will feature in the pedigrees of many more race winners in the future.
