Frédéric Beukenne (Bruyelle, BE) and the fantastic dynasty of Orchidée II !

Frédéric Beukenne raced his last season in 2015. It is without any regret that he ended his career after having been crowned two times as National Champion KBDB. The only thing he never won is a national victory. His owes his successful career to his best breeding hen, Orchidée II. She had an enormous impact on the history of this loft.

Frédéric and his best pigeon, the Prince.

Frédéric decided to stop his favourite hobby for private reasons. He had no more time to take care of his pigeons. It has been several years that his care taker, René, spent numerous hours in the lofts but it couldn't last anymore. Too bad as a loft of very high value will disapear from our horizon. But it will be a superb opportunity for the people who still want to strengthen their breeding loft. Because you need to tell things like they are and the reputation of the Beukenne loft crossed the Belgian borders many years ago. After he won the national titles of 1st National Champion Shorter Middle Distance KBDB and 1st National Ace Pigeon Shorter Middle Distance KBDB, respectively in 2007 and in 2008, Beukenne was at the top of his sport! While everybody expected him to go further in this discipline, Frédéric decided to do the opposite and started to set his mind on the national races, from 400 up until 1,000 kilometres. He became a true all-rounder and after a few races, he managed to book each national top 10 position, excepted the most important: the first one. He was very close to a national victory twice. The first time it was in 2011 when he won the 2nd national Bordeaux against 6,217 pigeons thanks to a super performance booked by the Steph. The second time, it was the next year when his Bolt ended as 2nd national Bourges against 16,859 yearlings.

How can we explain the fact that he went from one discipline to another with equal success? Well, Frédéric owes it to several things but the most important remains the pigeon factor. And mostly thanks to his golden goose christened Orchidée II, a fantastic breeding hen who produced numerous top racers until the end of her life. A remarkable fact is that all her youngsters are all the same in the hand: middle sized pigeons with a perfect balance, very supple muscles and wings and exceptional eyes with a very intelligent look. These characteristics seem to last in time as they were given as well to the next generations, in fact up until the third, fourth and fifth generation! The best racing son of his incredible Orchidée II is the National Ace Pigeon National of 2008:

- Gaby (BE05-9011074)

A granddaughter of Gaby won the 8th national La Souterraine 16.676 p. for Jonny & Yves Jonckers (Linter).

Father: The Vandenabeele, obtained as an egg from Gaby Vandenabeele and bred from the pair Noel x Het Tourske. Noel is a son of the Turbo from Noel Lippens.
Mother: Orchidee II (Simpson x Orchidee, old basis Beukenne)

The same year as the birth year of Gaby, so in 2005, Orchidée II bred another top racer christened Speed:

- Speed (BE05-9011008)

1. Montélimar nat zone - 1,507 p. '08
   8. National - 8,634 p.

After his racing career, he became a top breeder, mostly in second generation as he became father of the hen of the second Golden Pair (see later) but also grandfather of the following pigeon:

- 146/12 (BE12-9037146)

1. Libourne prov - 1,231 p. '13

The father of this 146 is called Beethoven and it's a grandson of the pair Simpson x Orchidée, the parents of Orchidée II. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

The Vandenabeele x Orchidée II - The first Golden Pair

The Vandenabeele, still in super condition despite his age.

The Gaby is not the only top racer bred from the pair Vandenabeele x Orchidée II. He was only the first one. During the next years, several descendants from this pair booked top performances in the national races. Here is an overview of the best ones:

- Il Volo (BE08-9040067)

5. Bourges prov - 1,091 p. '11
   19. Iprovincial - 3,672 p.
   39. National - 9,781 p.
5. Argenton prov - 1,017 p. '11
   184. National - 11,001 p.
...

Several others lofts also successfuly introduced the pigeons from the Beukenne loft, mostly from this golden breeding pair. Olivier Tordeur had the chance to breed a hen who was classified in the Olympiads from Nitra in 2013. Her mother is a daughter of the Golden Pair.

- Cécile (BE09-1521729)

Olympic Pigeon Cat H Nitra 2013
1. National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance LCB 2012
1. Argenton Iprovincial - 1,970 p. '12
1. La Souterraine rég - 279 p. '12
2. Argenton Iprovincial - 1,138 p. '12
4. Nevers Iprovincial - 1,466 p. '12
6. Toury provincial - 1,344 p. '11
7. Toury provincial - 1,494 p. '11
21. Orléans provincial - 2,342 p. '12
...

Same thing for Adrien Mirabelle where a granddaughter of the Golden Pair became the mother of:

1. Bourges 4,208 p. (42th national 31,719 p.)
1. Nanteuil 1,027 p.
1. La Souterraine 917 p.
1. Toury 455 p.
1. Bourges 208 p.
2. Argenton 3,104 p.
...

Finally, last but not least, the basic hen of the Sauvage-Duran loft is also a direct Beukenne. She became the mother and grandmother of no less than 12 first single prizes!

As you can see, this line has all the characteristics of the best breeding lines available: she started to produce winners at home and then in other lofts. Moreover, her superior genes are transmitted from one generation to another with equal success. It is proved once again when you take a look at the pedigree of the second Golden Pair formed by the Super Breeder 093/08 x Duchesse 095/08, so Son Gaby x Daughter Speed, which means an inbred pigeon from Orchidée II !

Super Breeder 093 x Duchesse - The second Golden Pair

Super breeder 093, cock of the second golden pair.

Duchesse, hen of the second golden pair.

As the first Golden Pair started to get old, Frédéric had the chance to form a second Golden Pair from the ashes of the first one. This one is probably even better than the first one as it produced more champion pigeons in the first generation. When you take a look at the results won by their descendants, you quickly understand that, once again, the goods are bred from the goods, that the ace pigeons are bred from previous ace pigeons and that winners are bred from winners. It's the basic rule of the pigeon sport worldwide. Here are the best results of the best sons of this second Golden Pair (hens are not raced):

- Prince (BE10-9021017)

About Orchidée II

Who can say that he has owned a hen that had bred so many champion pigeons? I think they are not many. The breeding references of Orchidée II are the same as the best breeding hen in the world. Make your own conclusions. The auction of the best pigeons from Frédéric Beukenne will be the last opportunity to share in the miracle of the Bruyelle's lofts. After, it will be too late.
