Samanta turns Olympic!
Last year we talked in detail about the outstanding hen NL14-1651260 Samanta, which achieved some incredible results in 2015. She won the following titles that season:
1st PIPA ranking Best Sprint-Middle Distance Pigeon in The Netherlands - 10 prizes 1st PIPA ranking Best Middle Distance Pigeon in The Netherlands - 4 prizes 1st Ace Hen (10 best prizes) WHZB/TBOTB 2nd Ace Hen (10 prizes - 3500 km) WHZB/TBOTB 2nd Middle distance pigeon WHZB/TBOTB 2nd sprint pigeon WHZB/TBOTB
It was announced last week that another prestigious title was to be added to this list: Samanta was selected as (second) Olympiad Pigeon Brussels 2017 for The Netherlands in category B middle distance. She was promptly renamed Olympic Samanta. Remarkably enough she won this title with her achievements of 2015 alone. Co and Piet bred racing bird Samanta from NL05-2159336 Conto and BE10-6297675 Caprina, two breeding birds with an excellent reputation. Click here for the full pedigree of Olympic Samanta.
Olympic Samanta's list of achievements also resulted in a nomination for category A sprint, in which she is ranked as tenth best pigeon in The Netherlands. Another talented racing bird, NL14-1651344 Platino, won a nomination for the Olympiad in Category D Allround, finishing in 7th place. Co and Piet showed once again to be one of the leading names in The Netherlands, having won no less than 3 top 10 nominations.
Platino is one of the eye-catchers this season; he surprised everyone by winning the title of 2nd Ace Cock in The Netherlands in the WHZB-TBOTB competition. Platino won an impressive 19 prizes this year, including a 1st Region A Province 7 Central Holland from Pont-St.-Maxence against 1,170 pigeons. Click here to browse the pedigree of Platino, which showed to be a talented pigeon already at a young age. Perhaps you might remember his victory in the NPO race from Troyes against 6,372 pigeons, where he showed his potential already as a young bird. He continued to deliver as a yearling in 2015, when he became 8th best yearling in The Netherlands in the PIPA rankings. He has now claimed the title of 2nd best Ace Cock in The Netherland WHZB-TBOTB at the age of two. He is quite a racing bird!
This great looking blue coloured hen had her share in several championship titles this season as well. Youliya is bred from Fortuno, a son of Olympic Fortuna paired to her own sire. The dam of Youliya is Fyra, a hen from the line of Ultra 31. Click here for the full pedigree of Youliya. She performed very well throughout the season and she did great in the general ace pigeon championships as well. She was one of the best performers in the one day long distance, having won the following prizes:

The last one in a long row of blue coloured Verbree champions is Valita. She comes from a pairing of Ruco x Utopia. Her grandmother is Fyra, which we mentioned earlier on as the dam of Youliya. Click here for the pedigree of Valita. Valita is the winner of 7 first prizes this season, and she also took a teletext prize as 3rd NPO Issoudun against 3,498 pigeons. She did particularly well in the Natour competition, where she claimed the following titles:
