Auction weekend closes with 400,000 euro – De Smeyter-Restiaen 4,812 euro/pigeon

7 different auctions ended last Sunday, selling 198 pigeons for 399,600 euro overall, or more than 2,000 euro on average. Here is a brief summary of each auction.

Vermeerbergen-Wilms-Mostmans – 8 pigeons – 1,669 euro/pigeon
This is a highly renowned sprint team based around top pair 'Grizzly Wonder Pair', whose direct youngsters have won an impressive 36 first prizes in just a few years' time. A daughter of this very pair was the most expensive youngster in auction; she was sold to China for 3,000 euro. The 8 youngsters raised 13,350 euro and will be transferred to China (4), The United Kingdom (2), Bangladesh (1), and Germany (1).

Ivan Baetens – 10 pigeons – 1,580 euro/pigeon
In this auction we had 10 youngsters of the best breeders of Ivan baetens. The most expensive youngster was sale 3, a full brother of Rax, 2nd National Ace Pigeon longer middle distance KBDB 2017. He goes to China for 2,900 euro. His nest sister became the 2nd most expensive pigeon and she was sold to the same fancier for 2,400 euro. The 10 pigeons were sold to two different countries: 4 to Cina and 6 to Belgium. The 10 youngsters raised 15,800 euro in total.

Pieter Oberholster – 5 pigeons – 1,780 euro/pigeon
PIPA agent Pieter Oberholster has one of Europe's biggest Gaby Vandenabeele collections, with an impressive 15 youngsters of Rudy and a fantastic son of the old Bliksem. Sale 1 was a son of that Son Bliksem, and he goes to Taiwan for 2,600 euro. Sale 2, a double grandchild of Rudy, had the exact same sale price, and will be moving to China. The remaining three pigeons are moving to South Africa. The 5 youngsters raised 8,900 euro in total.

Jos Vercammen – 9 pigeons – 3,722 euro/pigeon
Father and son Vercammen have been selling their pigeons exclusively on PIPA for several years now. They had a fantastic average of 3,722 euro, raising 9 youngsters for 33,500 euro in total. The most expensive pigeon is a youngster of Elektro, which goes to Germany for 7,800 euro. The 9 youngsters were eventually sold to China (5), germany (3) and Japan (1).

De Smeyter-Restiaen – 17 pigeons – 4,812 euro/pigeon
The team of De Smeyter-Restiaen has become a household name in the extreme long distance in Europe. They claimed two international victories this season in Narbonne and Barcelona (hens), and that of course explains why this has been such a tremendous auction. Sale 1 and 2, two nest mates, were the most expensive birds in auction. They are both youngsters of Cas x Floorke, 1st International Pau x 1st International Barcelona hens. The two youngsters will stay in Belgium, and will both be moving to a renowned loft. Sale 1 was sold for 14,400 euro, sale 2 for 12,200 euro. The 17 youngsters raised 81,800 euro in total, and they were sold to fanciers from Belgium (11), Japan (3), Taiwan (1), The United Kingdom (1) and Germany (1). 

Roger Debusschere – 139 pigeons – 1,650 euro/pigeon
Every year Roger Debusschere offers for sale a fine selection of pigeons on PIPA, and this year was no exception. He was selling none other than pigeons of Batenburg-VD Merwe, Geerinckx, Gaston van de Wouwer, Rudi De Saer etc. But the most expensive bird was his national winner Mexence, winner of a 1st National Tulle and a grandson of the famous Returned Bliksem of Gaby Vandenabeele. Mexence was eventually sold for 20,000 euro. The second most expensive bird was a six year old son of Rudy, which goes to China for 11,600 euro. The overall revenue for the 139 pigeon was 229,350 euro, and they were sold to Belgium (36), China (31), Taiwan (31), USA (11), Japan (7), The United Kingdom (7), Sweden (5), Poland (3), Romania (3), Germany (2), Italy (2), Mexico (2), The Netherlands (1), Argentinia (1) and Thailand (1).

November Auction – 10 pigeons – 1,690 euro/pigeon
In this November Auction we sold 10 pigeons that had been sold before on PIPA, but which the original buyers failed to pay for. The most expensive pigeon was sale 4, a daughter of Poupou of Jespers-Van der Wegen. She goes to China for 3,800 euro. The 10 pigeons raised 16,900 euro in total, and they will be moving to China (5), Germany (2), Belgium (1), The USA (1) and The United Kingdom (1).
