After the passing away of his pigeon racing partner Carlos Lanoo, Paul focusses solely on racing with young birds. Do what you can and what you are good at, that is the key to success. It has to stay enjoyable. Shining with a small colony is Paul Gevaert (previously racing under the name Geveart-Lanoo) his trademark. Few people can match his palmares - let alone present a better one - with such a limited selection of pigeons. Currently, the colony exists of 12 breeding pairs and 30 young birds which Paul and his wife start the races with each year.
7 x 1st prize within 5 weeks
Last year, in 2021, they immediately won 1st Prov. Orleans, 2nd Nat. Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB 2021 and 11th Nat. Ace Pigeon Allround Young birds KBDB 2021 after their restart. A super season, a flow they want to continue in 2022. I can assure you, they succeeded!
Since the young birds are basketed on middle distance races, starting in the last weekend of June (26/06), they have won 7 x 1st prizes, of which 2 results with 1st-2nd-3rd, one weekend with 1st-2nd-3rd-4th and even one with the first 5 prizes (1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th). Ready for the national races
The numbers above show the superb condition in which the young birds of Paul and Daisy find themselves…but also the absolute class that resides on these lofts in Meigem. The latter is no secret, although it is not evident to belong to the best national middle distance lofts unbroken for 15 years with such a small colony.
The results of the past weeks must be a confidence booster working towards the national races for young birds. This is where the Paul Gevaert pigeons are at their best. We are curious to see whether this team of youngsters can continue the standard they set in the past 5 weeks. No one would be surprised if they did. Definitively a fancier to watch in the upcoming races.
