Victoria Falls World Challenge Pigeon Race: Final Race 2020

On Friday 14th of August, the Final Race of the Victoria Falls OLR is scheduled! Let’s take a look at the current top-10 standings.

With the 10th and Final Race, the competition comes to an end in Zimbabwe. The pigeons have to show their skills one more time with a final race from Masunga (600 km) on Friday.

This are the actual top-10 standings in the Super Ace Competition, the Grand Averages, the Normal Ace and the Team Competition.

1. Super Ace Competition – 4 longest Races – Hotspot 3,4,5 and the Final

Staged from 4 race points as follows- Hotspot 3,4,5 and the final. (The points are calculated as follows: [{{Race distance / Expected Final Race Distance x Number of birds basketed for Race 1 / (Position attained + (Birds in current Race / 10) }} x 100] / (1 + Days arrived after winner)

2. Grand Averages – all online Training Flights and Races

The Grand Averages-ranking  is determined by accumulating points for all online Training Flights and Races. All pigeons are included up to and including the 4th Hotspot result. Only pigeons activated before the basketing for the 5th Hotspot remain in the competition thereafter. (The points for the Grand Averages are calculated as follows: (flight distance / expected final race distance) x (initial bird number basketed for first flight – position attained). Birds that don’t clock in a flight get zero points but are not eliminated.)

3. Normal Ace – The best 7 out of 10 Races

The Normal Ace bird is determined by accumulating points allocated for the best 7 out of 10 Races. (The points are calculated as follows: [{{Race distance / Expected Final Race Distance x Number of birds basketed for Race 1 / (Position attained + (Birds in current Race / 10) }} x 100] / (1 + Days arrived after winner)

4. Team Competition – 5 Team birds, last 6 Races

The team competition is a ranking with entrants who have 5 or more activated birds (basketed for Hotspot 2). These are the rules:

  • An entrant can enter one team only and must select which 5 activated birds will be in this competition before Hotspot 2.
  • The total points of the 5 Team pigeons in each race from Hotspot 2 including the final will be added together. Only timed birds in each race will receive points for that race. If a bird is not timed in a particular race it will get zero points but will not be eliminated.
  • The team with the highest total points after the final will be the team competition winner.

It surely looks like it will be a very interesting last race... The big Final Race 2020. Good luck to all participants!
