Lars & Jos Vercammen, a highly successful combination for many years now
Chateauroux - a major success across the board
Is this the best season yet for the successful combination from Vremde? Comparing different competitions is always difficult of course, with such external factors as wind direction playing an important role every year. Lars Vercammen agrees: "But I was just as surprised as you were after the race from Chateauroux", he said smiling. And we understand why. The national race from Chateauroux on 18/07 was pretty much dominated by father and son Vercammen, with a fantastic result in all three categories:
National 4,631 yearlings: 2-3-26-27-30-55-66-131-150-180-189-194-211-... (26/34) (Zone B1: 1st and 2nd zone 1,563 pigeons) National 2,855 old birds: 2-21-127-… (7/10) National 17,269 young birds: 3-27-62-83-118-119-120-218-283-367-383-402-... (32/57)
The race in numbers:
The team wins an impressive 7 top 100 prizes with the yearlings, 2 top 100 prizes with the old birds, as well as 4 x top 100 and 7 x top 120 with the young birds. These numbers speak for themselves. And there is more. The 1st National Chateauroux of 17,269 young birds of Rene Coenen (Kessel, BE) is a 50% Hok Jos Vercammen, inbred to Elektro. And team Roziers-Xiang (Itegem, BE) wins a 40th National young birds with a 50% Hok Jos Vercammen (grandchild Mustang). In addition, the team of Roziers also wins a 1st National Bourges young birds (as the fastest of 59,243 pigeons) in 2017, again with a 50% Vercammen bird.
And the Mustang bloodline was particularly successful in this race: the first three arrivals in Vremde (2nd and 3rd National yearlings and 3rd National young birds) are a youngster and two grandchildren of this renowned breeder. Keep in mind that Mustang (BE14-6175237) won himself a 1st National Chateauroux in 2014, as the fastest of 33,018 pigeons!
Mustang has bred some highly talented descendants
The 4 national top 3 winners
This has been a great result overall, and we think all 4 national top 3 winners should be taken a closer look at:
BE18-6020078 - 3rd National Chateauroux (17,269 young birds)
The first pigeon to arrive home, just seconds short of a second prize in the young birds race, is The 078. She wins a 3rd National Chateauroux.
The 078 had already won a 178th National Zone B1 from Bourges of 7,502 young birds earlier on. Her dam is Nuan, a direct daughter of super class bird Mustang, winner of a 1st National Chateauroux of 22,818 young birds in 2014, and the fastest of all 33,018 pigeons.
The sire of the 078 is Silver. He is a half brother of My Girl, winner of a 14th National Bourges of 19,736 pigeons. Silver is also a grandson of another top bird from Vremde: Shakira. She is a daughter of Elektro and winner of a 9th National Monluçon of 17,865 pigeons).
The nest brother of the 078 won a top result from Chateauroux as well: a 62nd National.

BE17-6025255 - Ilke - 2nd National Chateauroux (4,631 yearlings) /1st National Chateauroux zone B1 (1,563 yearlings)
Ilke arrived home right after the 1st young bird, winning not only a 2nd National Chateauroux yearlings but also a 1st National Zone B1. She was the team's first nominated.
This racing hen has a proven record indeed; here is a closer look at her full palmares:

The sire of Ilke is Young Mustang, obviously another son of top bird Mustang (see earlier). The dam of Young Mustang is Miss Universe, which is already the grandmother of Gust, the fastest in the national race from Bourges 2017 of 59,243 pigeons for team Roziers-Xiang.
The dam of Ilke is a daughter of Shakira, one of the best youngsters of stock breeder Elektro B08-6174630, and winner of a 9th National Montlucon of 17,865 pigeons.

The sire of this hen is none other than superstar Mustang (see earlier). Her dam is Bambi. She was a fantastic racing bird, and she now plays an important role in the breeding loft, having bred several talented racing birds. Besides, she is a full sister of Aladdin, the fastest national from Bourges of 64,621 pigeons!
This is quite a pigeon indeed. Check the pedigree for a complete overview.
BE16-6032318 - Power Barco - 2nd National Chateauroux (2,855 old birds)
The second national old birds went to Power Barco.
This top class racing cock has won quite a number of prizes:

He is a son of Doha, 4th National Nevers and 7th National La Souterraine. Doha is the dam of several top birds, including Dubai, winner of a 5th National La Souterraine and a 17th National Chateauroux.
The sire of Power Barco is Special One, a son of Spartacus x Selfie.
He is named after his great-grandfather Barco, a super class breeder and the grandfather of that same Mustang.
A full sister of Power Barco happens to have won a 21st National in that same race from Chateauroux, in the old birds' race!

Impressive results in an impressive season
Like we said, father and son Vercammen are having a fantastic 2018 season, perhaps their best season yet. They have won an impressive number of top prizes in the sprint, the shorter middle distance, the longer middle distance and the long distance. It would be impossible to include every single top result here, so we selected only their very best prizes:

The end of the season
The racing season is already a major success for Jos and Lars Vercammen. Chateauroux was brilliant, and they were great in most other races as well. This is the palmares of a fantastic pigeon breed that has been carefully put together over the course of many years, and for which only the best pigeons were selected, led by fanciers who work hard every single day. Hok Jos Vercammen continues to be a leading name in pigeon racing. Is there anything the two fanciers still have to add to their palmares? They have won pretty much every race on the calendar. How about another national first prize? Perhaps they can try and give their best in the last two nationals of the season. Another national win would remove all doubts as to whether this has been their best season ever. Truth be told, their 2018 season would be fantastic even without an additional national win. Many congratulations to the team.
